3 Year Anniversary
Time flies when you’re having fun, and we can hardly believe we’ve already spent three years battling it out in the Nexus! Reminisce about your trials and triumphs on the battlefield with a new 3-Year Anniversary Portrait, Spray, and Banner. You can claim all three of these rewards by logging in to Heroes of the Storm from today through Monday, June 11.
I’m with igniteice on r/Heroes. Next Hero will be our 80th. Let’s queue for Alterac Valley!
Member when we didn’t have bans?
Member the artifact system?
Member when both of us were consistently breaking the damage meters by playing Raynor?
Member when you didn’t like Naz because you’d never go toads in D3?
Member when we’ve been doing this show for 4 years because it started during the tech alpha and we were still doing StarCast simultaneously?
Looking back, only big misstep is masters skins.
Matt Villers on Balancing Top to Bottom
Scarra recently talked on his Twitch channel, about how he believes it’s misguided to balance around lower-level play. Lead Hero Designer Matt Villers replied over the course of multiple tweets pulling the curtain back on the team’s balance philosophy.
Suspensions and Bans
We’ve just issued a new round of account suspensions and bans for players who regularly go AFK, refuse to participate, or intentionally and repeatedly die during their Heroes of the Storm matches.
These actions were targeted at players whose in-game performance data, combined with high report volume, clearly shows a consistent lack of contribution to the majority of their matches. In this way, we’re able to take regular and confident action against those who are intentionally harming the in-game experience for others.
Going AFK, refusing to participate, and intentionally dying are behaviors that ruin the experience for everyone else in a match and undermine the spirit of competition that’s essential to Heroes of the Storm. Taking part in these actions will not be tolerated, and we will continue to suspend and ban players who do. We’d like to thank those of you who use the relevant in-game reporting options when you spot these negative behaviors in your matches, and encourage you to continue doing so.

I love Xul, but generally don't play him due to community views of the hero. Just recently playing Quick Match to catch up on dailies and ended up on Blackheart's Bay.
I ended up getting chewed out by the team for double soaking Mid and Top, as Blackheart's is only about the 'coins and objective,' even though my soak kept us a level above the enemy team (which had an Abathur). After telling the team I'd stick with their deathball in only defending and looking for coins we ended up two levels behind. Every team wipe was blamed on the Xul because quote, "Xul's only ruin games because they only know how to PvE.'
I'd like to say that was my only experience on Blackheart's Bay, but most of my games end up in this situation.
So I’ve been playing HotS since alpha and played a lot of League of Legends before that and I’m always looking for fun “outside the box” character synergies or interactions. I’m wondering what you’re guys’ favourites might be. One buddy of mine and I have been working on I call the “bomberman”. Basically it’s Garrosh and D.Va, taking “into the fray” at level 7 and having D.Va shoot her self destruct at the enemies and as they retreat and the timer wears down I throw the mech onto the heads of the enemies and delete them.
Great show btw hope to see you in the nexus one day!
I’d say save for these for later episodes. Added some fun stuff into the top of the show/news.
Hey Kyle and Garrett! Hope things are going well for both of you!
My friend and I have been having struggles in this game. We have been sadly forced to go back to League of Legends simply because we feel that there is barely any comeback mechanics in HotS. It’s hard to come back when your team whole team shares xp instead of individually.
We love HotS cause of the iconic heroes and abilities from Blizzard games. We have tried going into all of the modes. Each time we find ourselves ahead in early game, but fall off late game and get behind in xp. We are both in Bronze and I don’t know if it’s simply because we are in elo hell or what. But every time we are put with people who do not want to farm lane xp and go for objectives. Or when we do nobody knows how to focus the right people and we end up losing the team fight.
Any advice? We love the show and listen all the time. We do not have many friends that play this game so it is difficult to get a team of 5 that wants to play to win.
Thanks again keep up the good work!
While I was listening to last weeks Podcast, in regards to Auriel, why not give her mana like other heroes, and have her energy act as a bonus heal - perhaps percentage based.
Love the podcast, I listen to it often during work. I have a question as well in regards to Sonya: how the hell do you kill her? I've been playing quite a bit of QM lately due to time constraints and every time there's a Sonya on the other team, I know its going to be a difficult game. My last QM was against a team with Sonya, we would get her to 5-10% health but every time she would whirlwind and heal back to full health.
I know Garrett loves his Sonya, but do you feel that she is still too strong as a bruiser?
“Enhancement never made sense.” - Kyle Ferguson 2018
As an Enhancement Shaman, how dare you. It makes perfect sense, you enhance your attacks with elements, Thrall in Hots is an Enhancement Shaman, while Rehgar is Resto.
That being said, sad to see multiclass go, I think a lot of characters had the potential to be multiclass or be converted to multiclass like Tassadar or Tyrande. Who do you think would have made a great multiclass hero?
Thanks and keep up the great work!
I have been listening to you two for almost two years and have learned a TON from the insite you share. Recently, my friends and i have lost several games where it seems like I was the obvious weak link. I typically play support but have been trying my hand at the assassin role and notice my damage is usually 10-20k less than my opponents that ive seen in similar roles. Ive been watching my KD ratio and usually i break even or come out ahead.
Assassins i typically play, greymane, butcher, lunara, and chromie.
Supports i normally play, Malfurion, Morales, Brightwing, and LiLi
Thanks for all you do!
