1-Week Course for professionals from all Erasmus eligible countries, and from all educational levels.

Intensive English Course for Teachers and Educators, an immersive experience in Amsterdam.

Description

This comprehensive English language program provides a one-week total immersion experience in the language, striking a well-rounded blend between concepts and practice. It is designed for four levels of knowledge:

Learning Outcomes

Language Proficiency:
a. Vocabulary: Expand their vocabulary to enable them to communicate a wider range of topics effectively.
b. Communication: Enhance spoken and written fluency, including pronunciation and intonation.
c. Grammar: Develop a strong grasp of English grammar, including sentence structures.
d. Listening Comprehension: Improve their ability to understand and interpret different speakers from different regions.

Teaching Skills:
a. Pedagogical Techniques for people working with CLIL methodology: Discuss and share effective teaching strategies.
b. Lesson Planning for people working with CLIL methodology: Develop skills in creating well-structured lesson plans that incorporate various skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing).
c. Assessment and Feedback: Understand how to assess students' language skills and provide constructive feedback.
d. Adaptability: Learn to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
e. Technology Integration: Explore the use of technology and digital resources in English language teaching.

Cultural Competence:
a. Cross-Cultural Understanding: Foster an understanding of cultural differences and how they impact language learning.
b. Cultural Awareness: Promote cultural sensitivity and awareness in teaching to create an inclusive classroom environment.

Professional Development:
a. Continuing Education: Encourage a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on best practices.
b. Networking: Facilitate opportunities for teachers to connect and collaborate with peers in the field.

Schedule

Day 1 – Course Introduction & Setting Goals - Ice-Breaking Activities. Presentations. Introduction.

Day 2 – Language Class. Grammar.

Day 3 - Language Class. Vocabulary.

Day 4 – Language Class. Pronunciation.

Day 5 – Evaluation. Certificates and Wrap-up

Day 6 – Course Closure & Cultural Activities

Evaluation of Learning Outcomes

Evaluation format:

Continuous assessment on class participation and self-assessment.

Evaluation criteria:

Participation in class debates, reflection and games.

Evaluation procedures:

Attendance, class participation.

Recognition of learning outcomes

Recognition conditions:

80% attendance to the course and class participation.

Recognition procedures:

The participant and the teacher trainer will be both in charge of recognizing the learning outcomes.

Recognition documentation:

Certificate of attendance.
If applicable, submit a paper.

Practical Details

Duration: 1 week or 25 academic hours

Schedule: Classes are from Monday to Friday in the morning or in the afternoon. The definite timetable will be sent at least two weeks before the start of the class.
Saturday is reserved for Cultural Activities.
Sundays are for arrival and departure.
Note: other durations and schedules can be arranged on demand.

Certification Details: Our organization is duly registered as en Erasmus Teacher Academy, with OID No. E10333486. Therefore, we issue the appropriate Certificates so that your course and trip get fully funded.
Support: Understanding Academy offers full support in terms of Erasmus+ mobilities, but unfortunately we do not provide transport or accommodation.
