Guidelines For Participants
Pre - Walk
- Ensure you are physically prepared for the walk, pace yourself according to your fitness level and do warm-up exercises before starting the walk to prevent injuries.
- Carry any necessary personal medications and inform our representative of any medical conditions or allergies before the walk.
- Wear sturdy, comfortable hiking shoes and dress in layers to adjust to changing weather conditions. Use a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection, and bring rain gear in case of unexpected weather changes.
- Bring a whistle for emergencies and carry a flashlight or headlamp for early morning or late evening walks.
- Wear suitable footwear and clothing according to the weather conditions and walk destination landscape.
- Before coming to the walk, inform someone of your route and expected return time.
- Always carry a first aid kit with knowledge of basic first aid procedures.
- Carry your water bottle along.
- Speak to us if there are any issues the team or the walk leader must be aware of.
During - Walk
- Avoid disturbing wildlife and picking plants, flowers, or other natural objects.
- During the session stay on marked trails to prevent damage to vegetation and wildlife habitats
- During the session remain with the group and avoid wandering off alone.
- Follow the walk leader’s instructions at all times and be alert of potential hazards such as slippery rocks or steep drop-offs.
- Keep noise levels low to enhance everyone's natural experience.
- Offer assistance to fellow participants if needed and share the trail courteously with others.
- Use cameras and recording devices respectfully and avoid using flash photography, which can disturb species.
- Try not to obstruct other participant's views or paths during the session.
- Engage in any conservation activities organised during the walk, such as clean-up drives or tree planting.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially in hot weather.
- Carry every piece of your trash back.
Post - Walk
- Ensure you carry all trash out with you and do not leave any food or waste behind after the walk.
- Practise good hygiene to prevent illness and use biodegradable soap if washing is necessary. Carry hand sanitiser and use it regularly.
- Thoroughly check your body, clothing, and gear for ticks and other insects.
- Write down your experiences, observations, and any sightings. This can be a fun way to remember your walk and note any areas for improvement.
- Share your review and any photos you took with the other participants and organiser.
