2018-2019 Supply List

In an effort to simplify the school supply list for our families we have created one supply list for all Murphy Elementary students.  Along with the support of our school’s PTC and your fundraising efforts, we have been able to remove many items from the supply list.  We will purchase those with either building or PTC funds from past fundraising efforts.

2018-2019 Murphy Elementary School Supply List

  • Backpack (large enough for winter gear)
  • 1 Pair of Gym Shoes to leave at school
  • 2 Packs of 24 Crayola Crayons
  • 2 Dozen Ticonderoga or other real wood, Made in the USA Pre-Sharpened #2 Pencils
  • 1 Package of 3M Post It Notes (3x3 or larger)
  • $5 donation to be used for Scholastic News

If you are able to purchase more than the list at left, classrooms can always use more:

  • Kleenex
  • Elmer’s Glue Sticks
  • Pencils

Throughout the course of the school year your child’s teacher may also ask for funds to help offset the cost in attending performances at the Myles Reif Performing Arts Center (www.reifcenter.org).

Your child’s teacher may also have an item just for their class so please be looking for a letter from your child’s teacher to arrive in early July.  Our hope is that this list causes less stress for our families and your focus in August can be solely on the excitement of starting a brand new year!

We hope to see you at the All School Open House on Thursday, August 30th from 3:00-5:00pm.  You may also bring your child’s supplies in at this time.

Thank you again to the PTC and our families for their yearly fundraising efforts.  Your efforts pay off!

As a Murphy family member there are also a couple of tech tools you may want to be ready for.  Both tools are free to you.

SEESAW

For the 2018-2019 school year we will again be utilizing an amazing app called SeeSaw.  Seesaw is a simple way for teachers and students to record and share what’s happening in the classroom.  Seesaw gives students a place to document their learning, be creative and learn how to use technology.  Each student gets their own journal and will add things to it, like photos, videos, drawings, or notes.

When there are new Seesaw posts, families can be notified via app notification, email or SMS.

Parents are only notified about their own child’s work or group work, and all data is safe and secure.

To download the app, go to this page and scroll down to the bottom:  https://web.seesaw.me/parents/  If you had an account last year you can use the same login.  We will update your child’s class and information and notify you.  Class access letters will come out in the fall after the school year has started.

ISD 318 Parent Link

ISD 318 has a new app to help keep you in the know. A majority of parents report that they spend most of their time online using a mobile device. The new Parent Link app allows us to make sure that we're reaching those audiences.

The Parent Portal app isn't going away, but the district app combines the data in Parent Portal along with our website and communication messages. By combining both apps together, parents should find it easy to access all the news and up-to-date grade and absence information. Families can also set alerts that notify them if grades or lunch balances fall below a certain threshold.

Don't wait, download the new app by searching “ISD 318 Grand Rapids & Bigfork” on the App Store and Google Play!
