Note from the Director
Greetings from Lighthouse Community Center! Below is an update of how we have been continuing to promote community even though we can not meet together.
. During the fall things felt a little ‘normal’ around here. We were able to have people back in the building, and were offering classes, Coffee Spot, and bingo. It was great to see people slowly come back, and to welcome new people once again. It reminded me of how much we have grown in the last couple years, and it gave me hope of having a full building and full schedule again at some point.
At the beginning of November we had to close our doors again because of the second wave of COVID-19. We are anxiously awaiting the day we can open back up and begin to see our friends and neighbors again on a regular basis. We have still been helping Calvary with food trucks and wednesday night dinners to feed our neighbors. This helps us connect with people and keep a presence in the community. This has also helped increase our social media presence, and word has spread of who we are and what we offer here!
I am writing this a few days after the riots in our capital. Our country is more divided than anytime since the Civil War. I believe that one way to understand the world more, and to help unite a divided country and culture, is to have diversity in your circle. Friends of different races, economic status, education levels, political affiliations, upbringings, religions, and so on. That is a deep desire of mine, to increase my circle, and help others increase theirs. That is what we are doing here. We are making friends and building relationships so that we can have a stronger, more united and understanding community. A community full of love, understanding, acceptance, and hope for a better future.
Thank you for your support
Shanna Grigoletti
1. Bingo: Mondays 11:00am and 6:00pm
Monthly Average | Sept | Oct | Nov | Bingo this fall has felt like a family reunion every week. It was great to see new faces every week, and reconnect to people we have not seen in months. We had to say goodbye to our friends who lived in a local group home. Their home got sold, and they all had to go their separate ways. It was so sad to see them go, They had bonded with so many people here, and they will be deeply missed. |

9.. Weds Night Dinners: Wednesdays 5:30pm
Monthly Average | Sept | Oct | Nov | We have started serving dinners again! We are working with Calvary to supply a drive thru dinner on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. Each week the attendance grows. Although this does not replace the community we experience on a regular Wednesday night, it does help keep our presence in the neighborhood and feeds people. We have had nothing but positive feedback from those who come.

11. Coffee Spot M-F 9:00am - 1:00pm

13. Food Truck: Every 4th Thursday - 5:00pm
Monthly Totals | Sept | Oct | Nov | The food truck was the one thing we could keep going at this time. It did present many challenges, and learning how to distribute food safely. We changed to a drive-through style, and were able to serve so many people in our neighborhood. It was also great to see many volunteers come out to help. Many of them had not helped before because of scheduling conflicts.
