6th Grade Science Curriculum At-A-Glance

The 6th grade physical science curriculum encompasses three subject areas; life science, physical science, and earth science.  Earth Science concepts will include the Earth, Moon, and the Sun as well as the solar system.  It will also include earth related topics such as the atmosphere and weather.  We will then move into physical science related concepts such as forces, electricity, and magnetism.  The life science concepts include; plants, animal life processes, populations, communities, and ecosystems.  All content material will be taught with an emphasis on combining knowledge with the opportunity for inquiry and critical thinking.  This class does offer an opportunity for technologically enhanced learning, hands on lab activities allowing students to better experience and investigate the concepts in a hands-on fashion, and critical thinking based application activities to challenge student learning.
