Dear District 62 Families,

As we navigate through this school year we wanted to share some updates regarding our staggered return dates for those students whose families selected in-person instruction as well as our fall calendar.

Staggered Return Schedule

As we know, one thing we have learned over these last several months is that we must be fluid and learn to shift our focus depending on circumstances beyond our control. We continue to learn new information and guidelines regarding the virus which affects our capacity to plan. As we reviewed our return schedule for those families who selected the in-person learning option for their children, we realized that there is a need to modify our original proposed dates. Below are the new dates:

• September 30 (original date: September 28)

• Special Needs Preschool Program, SPARK Extended Day Kindergarten
• Kindergarten, 1st grade
• 6th grade returns
• Tier 3 reading intervention for identified students
• Special education students in self-contained special education classrooms in grades K-5:

• Special Needs Kindergarten (SNK)
• Instructional Classrooms
• Behavioral and Emotional Supported Teaching (BEST)
• Structured Teaching Educational Program (STEP 1 and STEP 2)
• Educational Life Skills (ELS)

• Special education students in self-contained special education classrooms in grades 6-8:

• Behavioral and Emotional Supported Teaching (BEST)
• Structured Teaching Educational Program (STEP 1 and STEP 2)
• Educational Life Skills (ELS)

• October 14 (original date: October 5)

• Preschool For All Program returns           
• 2nd and 3rd grade return
• 7th grade returns

• October 21 (original date: October 13)

• Preschool SPARK Program returns
• 4th and 5th grade return
• 8th grade returns

September 4: Institute ½ Day (½ day no afternoon classes or Kindergarten)                  

September 14: Planning Day (No classes)

September 29: Planning Day (No classes)

October

October 30: Institute ½ Day (½ day no afternoon classes)                                  

November

November 16: Planning Day

• No classes for elementary schools
• Algonquin Middle School, Chippewa Middle School and Iroquois Community School K-8 in session

November 17: First Day of Second Trimester

• Algonquin Middle School, Chippewa Middle School and Iroquois Community School K-8 in session
