2023 IPRA Secretary General(s) Nomination Form

Established in 1964 as a non-profit international scientific association of peace researchers and educators, International Peace Research Association (IPRA) forms the world’s oldest consortium of multi-disciplinary workers in the field of peace research. The 29th General Conference of IPRA to be held in Trinidad & Tobago on 17-21 May 2023.

In accordance with IPRA Statutes on the biennial Administrative Meeting of the General Conference, Governing Council, Nomination of Secretary Generals and Election of accompanying Office Bearers (Art. 8, 9, 15 and 16 of the Constitution), it is expected that the 29th biennial IPRA General Conference shall elect new officers. It is possible to elect one or two Secretary Generals. The Constitution can be accessed at https://www.iprapeace.org/images/IPRA-Statutes2018.pdf . If two SGs are elected, one should be a male and the other female. Both should represent different geographical areas.

Individual or institutional members who have paid their membership fees have one vote. Any paying IPRA member may nominate the Secretary General(s) in writing stating who made the nomination, and that the nominee has agreed to be nominated. Anybody who has paid the membership fee and is duly nominated is eligible for election to an IPRA office.

All nominations must be made at least 24 hours before the Administrative Meeting 2023. The Nomination Committee will prepare a list of submitted nominations and make it public on the day of the Administrative Meeting 2023 . If there are no more nominees than offices, the Administrative Meeting may decide to elect by acclamation. Otherwise, all elections require a secret ballot.

Thus, the nomination committee has opened the call for the nomination for the position of Secretary General (s) for next term. This nomination process will remain open until 24 hours before the Administrative Meeting 2023.
