URGENT Need for Family Teachers

The Family Teachers, a married couple, will provide youth with a caring environment in which to grow and learn; model and teach social skills, self-help skills, academic skills, and independent living skills; foster the moral and spiritual development of youth; administer the day-to-day operations of a large family residence; supervise and work with other professional Family Teachers in carrying out responsibilities; and maintain confidentiality of youth and program information. The Family Teachers are provided a private living area to sleep, shower, and spend time when they are not on duty and to receive personal visitors.  Food, entertainment, household items, supplies, and utilities will be paid for by Utah Youth Village as Family Teachers live in and manage the group home.

Male Associate Family Teacher

The Associate Family Teacher will provide boys ages 5-13 with a safe and secure environment in which to grow and learn; model and teach social skills, self-help skills, academic skills, and independent living skills; foster the moral and spiritual development of youth; administer the day-to-day operations of a large family residence; supervise and work with Family Teachers and other professionals in carrying out responsibilities; and maintain confidentiality of youth and program information. The Associate Family Teacher will serve as primary relief for the Family Teacher Couple and complete tasks as assigned by the couple in order to provide said relief and assistance.

Youth Mentor

The Youth Mentor will meet with a youth once or twice a week to provide positive support to a youth on a variety of issues as well as help the youth develop stronger independent living and social skills. The youth population will be ages 11-18, and most of them will have graduated from one of Utah Youth Village’s other programs. Youth Mentors will work with 1-4 youth at a time, depending on their availability. This position is part-time and flexible around the Youth Mentor’s and the youth’s schedule. A Mentor is not required to have Bachelor's degree, and this position provides excellent paid work experience for students or others looking for a way to get into the Social Work field.

Starting Hourly Pay: $14.00

Family Coach

The Family Coach will provide intensive in-home behavioral coaching to families who are dealing with severe behavioral problems and cannot afford to pay for treatment themselves. The Family Coach will use the principles of the Teaching Family Model to teach families, parents, and children skills to help alleviate the stressors in the home. Each Coach is expected to work with at least 18 families per year, managing a caseload of 2-5 families at a time. Home environments may range from wealthy to impoverished families with a range of cleanliness issues and behavior problems. Utah Youth Village will provide detailed training and 24-hour on-the-job support.
