Juneteenth Employer Request Template

As more companies have made their public commitments to #blacklivematters, we want to support these effort by making sure the education continues. We have included suggestions for how your company can commemorate Juneteenth by including templates to edit and send to your team.

For employers who have put out a public statement:

Hi [Manager, cc: HR, D&I Team, ERG Leads, and/or Group Head/Skip Manager/CEO],

Thank you for commitment so far in supporting #blacklivesmatter. I really value the company’s dedication in making sure that we continue to support the black community beyond just this moment.

As you might know, Juneteenth is coming up on Friday, June 19, 2020. Juneteenth is a holiday recognized by all but 3 states to celebrate the day that the last black slaves were liberated in the United States.

Although our company has not celebrated this holiday in the past, I would like to request that we honor the day this year and moving forward. Some recommendations for ways that we can do this are found below:

With all that’s been happening in the world, it has been difficult to show up and be 100% productive.

As you might know, Juneteenth is coming up on Friday, June 19, 2020. Juneteenth is a holiday recognized by all but 3 states to celebrate the day that the last black slaves were liberated in the United States.

Although this is not one of our holidays, I would like to request for permission to take the day off to celebrate and honor the day. I am hoping to be able to do so without penalty to my current PTO. If this is not an option, I have included additional recommendations to be able to honor the day below:
