Show Information Packet

Tonight's the night we've all been waiting for!  Granny, who has retired from show business, will be honoring all of our favorite fairy tale characters!  Who will win Best Female Vocalist? Best Best Dramatic Scene?  Best Rap?  And the most coveted Best Villain Award?  Tune in to see and hear your favorite performers!  And don't forget to keep an eye on that nasty Big Bad Wolf, as he tries to steal the treasured Granny Award during the show!

Through their participation in the show, students will learn how to work together, memorize lines, dance, sing together and in tune, and most of all, learn what fun it is to put on a show!

This is all the information you need to know to decide if you want to be a part of this exciting production.

Thanks for reading and we look forward to an awesome adventure into the world of careers!

Your Directors, Amanda and Kate

Important Information

This show is for kids Age 4-Grade 5.

Regular Rehearsals:

September 4 - November 7th.

Mature 2nd graders may be able to come on Wednesdays if they prefer.  Email directors about this.

No rehearsal:

Saturday, September 28th - since the Saturday group will miss this rehearsal, we would love for them to come the previous Thursday, September 26th from 3:45 - 4:30

Thursday, October 31st (Halloween) -  since the Thursday group will miss this rehearsal, we would love for them to come the following Saturday, November 2nd from 9:30 - 10:15am

Dress Rehearsal Week:

All students come to all three rehearsals listed:

Performance: Friday, November 15th:

The Granny Awards will perform on Friday, November 15th at 6:00pm.  The show will be at Mary Silveira School in Marinwood (San Rafael) at 375 Blackstone Drive.

(This date is still tentative as we need to confirm with the venue which is closed over summer - we will confirm by end of August)

On the performance day, students will arrive to the theater at 4:30pm.  Doors will open for parents at 5:45pm.  Tickets are $12 (5 and under are free) and can be purchased online (the week before) or at the door.

Every child will be cast in their own special role.  We will not have official auditions but will instead have everyone try some parts out at our first couple rehearsals.

Parent Volunteers:

If you would like to volunteer to help out (with costumes, props, set, tickets, refreshments, etc.) please let us know.  We are keeping this production fairly simple, but can always use help.

For our Thursday and Saturday groups of 4 year olds to 2nd graders, the production costs $228.

For our Wednesday group of 3rd-5th graders, the production costs $285.  You’ll notice this fee is higher than in the past; that is because we have decided to include a digital video of the performance for each student.

This amount will be broken into three payments and charged to your Rhythms account on September 1, October 1, and November 1.  When you enroll, you will enter your credit card and be enrolled in auto-pay so you will be automatically charged each month and won’t have to worry about when to pay.  Payments later than 5 days will incur a $15 late fee.  We are not able to give refunds.  You may want to pay your first payment at the time of registration but it is not due until September 1.

Your Production Fee includes your script, show t-shirt, and digital video of the performance.  Most of your costume will also be included, though we will ask each actor to provide some basic parts of their costume.

Family Discount: families with two or more children registered for a Rhythms musical (including our younger or older shows), we offer $25 off for each child.

New Friend Discount:  If a returning actor brings a new friend to Rhythms who registers for The Granny Awards, they will get $25 off their Performance Fee.

Multiple Musical Discount: For those students who participate in our older show, Frozen, as well as The Granny Awards, you will receive $100 off your Granny Awards production fee.

These discounts may not be automatically added to your studio director account.  Please email the studio if to have a discount applied.

T-Shirt and Costume:

Each participant will receive a show t-shirt with a logo of the show.

They will also get to borrow a costume for the performance.  Most students will need to provide their own black leggings (girls) or black shorts (boys) and black jazz shoes for their costume.  They should wear their black jazz shoes to every rehearsal.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door on the day of the show.  We will not sell any tickets at the studio prior to day of the showcase.  General admission is $12.  Children 5 and under may attend for free if they sit on a parent’s lap.

Tickets may be purchased online the week before the performance.  We will send out a link at that time.

The doors will open fifteen minutes before show time; parents will not be allowed into the performance venue prior to doors opening, so saving seats before that time will not be allowed.

Class Observation Policy:

It can be difficult for students to focus when there are extra people in the room.  Therefore we discourage observers in the studio.  If a parent has a special concern, he or she may speak with the instructor prior to class about observing; however, this request cannot be accommodated on a regular basis.
