League of Women Voters of Central Delaware County End of Year Report for 2023
This report highlights the commitment of our LWV CDC Board of Directors, Committee Chairs and our members for supporting the work of our League to Empower Voters and Defend Democracy. Thank you!
2023 Highlights Include:
- Twenty-nine In-person Voter Services Information Events & Initiatives (over 1,500 volunteer hours)
- Voter Registration Drives and Get-Out-the-Vote Events
- Delaware County Naturalization Ceremony in conjunction with the LWV of Delaware County
- High School Student Voter Registration and Civic Education Programs with Chester Charter Scholars Academy, Academy Park HS (Southeast Delco SD) in conjunction with PA Youth Votes, Chester STEM Academy (Chester Upland SD)
- College Level events: Delaware County Community College and Williamson College of Trades
- Voter Registration Caseworker Training at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility
- Recruit Poll Workers
- Promote Vote411.org
- Eighteen Voter Education/Voter Engagement Events Via Zoom & In-person (over 1,000 volunteer hours)
- Ten Hot Topic presentations via Zoom (Totals 517 Reg. & 1,750 Views) (Videos on our YouTube Channel)
- Two informational programs focused on running for office (municipal office and school board)
- New Member Meet & Greet in-person event
- Jeanette Ross Environmental Lecture-Zoom (Totals 59 Reg. & 65 Views = 124) (Video YouTube Channel)
- Gathering with Delaware County Council in conjunction with the League of Women Voters of Delaware County ILO (in-person event)
- Multi-League event Let’s Talk Kids and Social Media via Live Streaming (186 Reg. & 136 views = 322)
- Two Environmental Event in conjunction with the League of Women Voters of Delaware County (Clearinghouse in-person event) & LNG Webinar (LWVPA)
- Two Virtual Candidate Forums - combined over 4,200 views YouTube/Live Streaming (200 volunteer hours)
- Two League of Women Voters of United States Grants (combined $1,250 received) (200 volunteer hours)
- Youth Voter Registration
- Current & Formerly Incarcerated Voter Registration
- Seven International Relations Study Group Sessions (200 volunteer hours)
- Topics included Energy Geopolitics, War Crimes, China and the US, Economic Warfare, Politics in Latin America, Global Famine, Iran at a Crossroads.
- Two Development Committee Events (400 volunteer hours)
- Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends Fundraising event
- Afternoon Tea and Historic House Tour
- Over 40 Good Governance and Public Policy Initiatives/Activities (over 1,500 volunteer hours)
- Tracked and reported on legislation that impacts the work of the LWV
- Published eight editions of The Voter Newsletter
- Observed Delaware County Council and Election Board meetings
- Participated as Poll Workers
- Engaged with environmental justice issues and groups
- Awarded our Outstanding Community Service recognition to the Delaware County Library System for helping us promote Vote411.org.
- Submitted Op-Ed Articles on voting issues and good governance
- Participated in radio interview on CMP Radio speaking about the work of the League and the importance of voting
- Coordinated DEI Voter Engagement Coalition Event via Zoom
- Attended conferences and committee meetings of the LWV US and LWV PA
- Communications Committee shared information via our website (www.lwvcdc.org ) and our Facebook Page and our YouTube Channel
