Pagans in Recovery

(Example Discussion Topic Meeting)

WELCOME TO: PAGANS IN RECOVERY Discussion Topic Meeting

(Chairpersons note: 10 min time window for topic share at the beginning and last ten minutes of  meeting for burning desires/check in)

Meeting open:

My name is _________ and I am a ________. We are glad you are all here today. (Chairperson’s  note: can also say and I am “in Recovery”)

Let’s open this meeting with a moment of silence, followed by your version of the Serenity  Prayer. Each of us has our own personal relationship with our own Higher Powers. Please take a  moment to consider whom you wish to address your prayer and it is perfectly acceptable to  join in on “grant me”.

I will be starting the prayer with _______ to address my Higher Powers.

Serenity Prayer:

_____, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the  things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. So mote it be.

I asked a friend to read:

Meeting Guidelines

Group Unity Policy

We enjoy celebrating milestones at this meeting. I have asked a friend to hand out the  recognition markers.

We encourage newcomers to share during this meeting. Do we have any newcomers here with  us today? Do we have any visitors here with us today? WELCOME everyone! Those of us who  have had a spiritual awakening as the result of the 12 steps are here to help you on your  journey. We are not here to tell you what to do.

At Pagans In Recovery, sponsorship is important. Will those who are willing to be a sponsor  please raise your hand. If you are looking for a sponsor, please see one of these people after  the meeting.

The 7th Tradition says that we are self-supporting through our own contributions. We are now  passing the basket. These contributions help us to pay for rent of the space and for  coffee/snacks. Also, if you need/want the book “The Pagan in Recovery” we either have it for  sale or you can purchase it on Amazon.com.

While the pumpkin is going around, do we have any recovery related announcements? I have selected a topic for this meeting. (Chairperson gives topic or has someone else give topic) To be sure that everyone can have the opportunity to share, we have a 4-minute timer. When it  sounds, please wrap up your share.

Meeting close:

(Chairpersons note: Don’t rush the moment of silence at the end)

We have reached the end of the hour. I’d like to thank everyone who shared today. If anyone  didn’t get the chance to share, please talk to one of us before you leave. We are here to help  each other.

In closing, will those who wish to, please join me in a few moments of silence. I encourage you  to offer up your gratitude for recovery to whatever Gods, Goddesses, Spirits, Deities or  Ancestors which are a part of your spiritual path today.

(Optional: ...as well as take this moment to reflect on the experience, strength and hope shared  here today, how we showed up for ourselves and showed up for each other)

THANK YOU!

I wish you all peace and look forward to seeing you again next week! Everybody, please help us  clean up before we leave. Feel free to stay and mingle for a bit.
