Minutes of RDA Board Meeting

Attendees Present:

Andy Bailey, Michael Bush, Howard Davis, Michael Donahue, Jude Levy, Billie Lindsey, David Lough, Richard Mones, and Samantha Wuerfel

Proceedings:

1. Approval of meeting minutes

● Approval of minutes from November, 13 meeting - upon motion made and seconded, unanimously approved by the board

2. Discussion of 2018 RDA achievements

● See the attached document, drafted by H. Davis, approved by the board

3. Discussion of Board Election

● Committee established - Richard Mones, David Lough, and Samantha Wuerfel

○ Candidates will be decided by mid-January

○ Push RDA membership registration, must be a member to vote in election

● Official timeline election has been developed and is available on RDA website

● December and January newsletters will provide a big push for RDA membership registration and promote the election

4. Committee Reports

● Community Relations

○ Overall recognition of greater police presence in the Rosemary District, things are moving toward more responsiveness

○ The Salvation Army is hiring a Homeless Outreach liaison to focus on continued solutions

● Governance

○ Objectives completed for 2018

● Public Art

○ Creating a 2 pronged approach to Masterplan: Branding and transitioning to Rosemary Art & Design District or RADD

○ Exploring the idea of working with At-Large in branding

○ Met with Toni Sikes of CODA Works, to discuss the development of the overall Masterplan, a fast track approach

● Open Space

○ Successfully advocated for the inclusion of Rosemary Parks in the City’s New Parks Master Plan on Dec. 3rd

○ Recommended sites in Masterplan: specific sites - map and

appendices with detail, two key sites plus Lofts on Lemon

○ Advocacy efforts - ongoing

● The Bay

○ Objectives completed for 2018

● Walkability

○ Objectives completed for 2018, “Our community still needs more trees!” - Judy Levy, co-chair

○ Dissolving into the Open Space committee next year

● Website/Social media

○ Developing new strategies to allow committees easy access to communicating with the neighborhood, besides the monthly

newsletter

○ Focusing efforts towards increasing membership sign ups

● Zoning

○ The Nov. 28 Community Workshop went really well, City

representatives were very happy

○ Discussed 8 new design requirements, “amenity zones,” etc. Still needing to gain support

5. Other Business

● Grace Howl, a local artist, who led the first ARTUP event, spent close to $700 of her own money in paint and other supplies. Per her request, the RDA is gifting her a $100 RDA membership and continued recognition

6. Schedule for future meetings

● Jeff Speck: City Hall, January 10, 2019, at 6 pm

● RDA board meeting: January 8, 2019, at 5:30 pm

● Community meeting: January 23, 2019 (Time and location TBD) ● Election results: February 20, 2019 (Time and location TBD)
