Welcome to Confirmation 2018!!

This year, Song of Life UMC is teaming up with Chandler UMC for a great experience!

What is confirmation?

No one is born a Christian.

One becomes a Christian

through becoming a part of a community

with a distinctive way of life

involving definite ethical and creedal commitments.”

-James F. White

Confirmation is decision time.

It’s about making a commitment to who you want to be from here forward.

Perhaps as a kid, your parents taught you about their faith. Perhaps not. Either way, you’re old enough to be able to decide for yourself now. Your parents, your family, your friends, and your entire church are here to help. We’re all ready to share what we’ve learned.

What do we do in confirmation?

We try new things.

You’re going to be exposed to new ways of thinking about who you are and how you fit in the world. You’ll get to experience the way that other faiths (not Christian) worship. You’ll maybe participate in some things at your own church you haven’t done before.

We ask questions.

In order to own your faith, you have to question it. You won’t get all the answers right now, or even before you’re confirmed. But you’ll learn how to ask, where to go for answers, and how to be ok with not knowing.

We make a choice.

At the start, you have a choice. To be a part of the confirmation process or not.

At the end, you’ll have a choice too. How will you continue? Will you decide to commit yourself to service, prayer, generosity, and love in the name of Christ? Will you decide to take more time to consider? These are your choices to make.

This year’s class is going to be one of the best ever! More kids, more leaders, and more interactive sessions! We’re looking forward to a fun and meaningful confirmation class and want YOU to be a part of it!
