Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) Policy
Public Consultations on Oil and Gas Projects in Guyana
1. Introduction
Guyana-Business.Com T/A Gateway-Guyana Holdings Incorporated ("Gateway-Guyana") is committed to providing services to our clients in a manner that prioritizes the health and safety of our employees, subcontractors, the public, and the protection of the environment. This commitment extends to our full participation in public consultations for Oil and Gas projects in Guyana. This policy is designed to align with industry best practices and our clients' high standards for responsible operations.
2. Objectives
This policy aims to:
- Ensure the health and safety of all participants during public consultations, with a particular focus on risks related to our services.
- Minimize environmental impacts associated with our services and consultation activities.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for all participants.
- Facilitate meaningful engagement with stakeholders and our clients' HSSE teams.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all Gateway-Guyana employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders involved in public consultations for Oil and Gas projects in Guyana.
4. Responsibilities
- Gateway-Guyana Management: Responsible for providing resources and support for the implementation of this policy, ensuring alignment with client HSSE standards.
- Project Managers: Responsible for ensuring that HSSE considerations are integrated into all stages of our service delivery and participation in public consultations.
- HSSE Personnel: Responsible for providing guidance and oversight on HSSE matters, coordinating with client HSSE teams.
- Employees and Subcontractors: Responsible for adhering to this policy, client HSSE procedures, and all applicable regulations.
- Stakeholders: Expected to cooperate with HSSE measures and report any concerns to Gateway-Guyana or client representatives.
5. HSSE Principles | Actions/Arrangements and Contacts
- Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and manage HSSE risks associated with our services and public consultation participation. Prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health by managing the health and safety risks in the workplace.
- Relevant risk assessments completed and actions arising out of those assessments implemented. (Risk assessments reviewed when working habits or conditions change.)

- Employee Competence and Hazard Prevention: Implement measures to prevent hazards and incidents, adhering to client safety protocols. Provide clear instructions and information, and adequate training, to ensure employees are competent to do their work.
- Staff and subcontractors are given necessary health and safety induction and provided with appropriate training (including working at height, asbestos awareness and electrical safety) and personal protective equipment. We will ensure that suitable arrangements are in place to cover employees engaged in work remote from the main company site.

- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans in coordination with client emergency response procedures. Implement emergency procedures – evacuation in case of fire or other significant incident. - Escape routes well signed and kept clear at all times. Evacuation plans are tested from time to time and updated as necessary.

- Environmental Protection: Minimize environmental impacts through responsible waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation, aligned with client environmental commitments. Maintain safe and healthy working conditions, provide and maintain plant, equipment and machinery, and ensure safe storage/use of substances.
- Toilets, washing facilities and drinking water provided. System in place for routine inspections and testing of equipment and machinery and for ensuring that action is promptly taken to address any defects.

- Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and improve HSSE performance in collaboration with clients.
6. Public Consultation Procedures
- Planning: Conduct HSSE risk assessments for our activities and develop mitigation measures in coordination with clients.
- Venue Selection: Adhere to client guidelines for venue selection, ensuring safe, accessible, and environmentally suitable locations.
- Communication: Provide clear and accessible information about HSSE procedures to all participants, collaborating with clients to ensure consistent messaging.
- Security: Comply with client security measures to ensure the safety of all participants.
- Incident Reporting: Establish a system for reporting and investigating HSSE incidents, coordinating with client reporting procedures.
7. Collaboration with Clients
Gateway-Guyana will maintain open communication with client HSSE teams, providing regular updates on our HSSE performance and promptly addressing any concerns or incidents. We will actively participate in client HSSE initiatives and contribute to the overall success of their HSSE programs.
8. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
Gateway-Guyana will comply with all applicable Guyanese & UK laws and regulations related to HSSE, including but not limited to the Environmental Protection Act, the UK Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, and any specific regulations related to the Oil and Gas sector. 9. Monitoring and Review
This policy will be monitored and reviewed periodically, in consultation with clients, to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
