Candidate Statement:

It is my honor and privilege to be a part of MSSNY and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve.  I care deeply about the health and well-being of our communities and the physicians who have dedicated their lives to the noble profession.  I am passionate about community service, education and addressing healthcare disparities present in our communities. I believe that in order to improve the health of our communities and the healthcare delivery system, it is vital that physicians have a voice in the creation of healthcare policies and laws which impact the community. I strongly believe that any regulations and mandates impacting physicians are made with physician participation and representation.  I am committed to increasing the engagement of New York State’s diverse physicians, women physicians, residents and medical students with MSSNY and their active participation in its programs.  By bringing diverse groups together, supporting efforts for our positions; we can address issues such as suicide, the substance abuse crisis, violence etc. With community outreach, we can harness the support of our patients and the public in our advocacy efforts.  My service with organized medicine in leadership positions, in advocacy and my grass-roots community work has given me valuable insight and experience in the issues we face everyday.  In addition to serving healthcare professionals, I have launched innovative programs of mentorship, service and education for the community including programs for the homeless.  As a MSSNY delegate, I have authored and co-authored resolutions on issues including; CME, MOC (which became MSSNY policy), Sunshine Act Amendment (which passed the AMA HOD), Environmental issues, Charitable Immunity Laws, Increasing MSSNY membership and Diversity Representation, Membership and Supporting NYS medical students, residents. As an AMA delegate, It is my aim to further collaborative efforts to address our challenges and the important issues of physician wellness, physician practice, gender equity and youth mentorship.  Thank you for your consideration and I humbly ask for your support.  I will be happy to answer any questions on my qualifications, experience, efforts and my vision for the direction of organized medicine.
