Immediate requests for changes in policy for:

OR-501 Portland/Gresham/Multnomah County CoC.

  1. An immediate halt to all exiting of shelter residents without due process by a group of peers i.e. fellow residents.
  2. A system wide “no exiting until housing is acquired” policy is inserted into all AHFE guidelines.
  3. A written statement by the AHFE recognizing homeless people as “Citizens” endowed with all the same rights and privileges as any and all citizens of the State, city, county or municipalities that they exist. Changing the language in all prior documents and henceforth as “Homeless Citizens” or any variation including the word citizen, to replace “unhoused” , “homeless” or simply sheltered.
  4. Two SHAC/HCM Representatives (either direct members or by recommendation) placed on every Coordinating Board or Committee that creates policy decisions, system wide, for homeless or housing initiatives or allocates funds for those means. Excluding seats of public office.
  5. Every shelter be made a “NO Barrier” Shelter
