Flex Requirements

2021-2022

Outlined in the bullet points below are the requirements for earning the (4) Flex days in ‘20-’21.

Remember - Flex time is the opportunity to “swap” time worked/time spent in professional learning outside of the normal contract time with four designated paid days in either the 187-day or the 197-day work calendar. These are NOT additional days of work.

187-day & 197-day Professionals

(Exempt Employees - Do NOT use Timeclock)

187-day & 197-day Paraprofessionals

(Non-Exempt Employees - Do use Timeclock)

  • Exempt employees on a 187-day or 197-day work calendar include, but are not limited to, classroom educators, instructional coaches, digital learning coaches, nurses, specialists/therapists, and any other professional position assigned to the 187-day or 197-day work calendar.
  • Professionals on a 187-day and 197-day work calendar must complete a minimum of 24 hours (6 hours for 4 days) of learning/training accrued and recorded in PowerSchool Perform. Flex hours must be completed on non-contract hours between the first non-instructional day at the end of the school year through April 30th of the following school year.
  • Non-Exempt employees on a 187-day or 197-day work calendar include, but are not limited to, campus aides, special education aides, some receptionists, and any other paraprofessional positions assigned to the 187-day or 197-day work calendar.
  • Paraprofessionals on a 187-day or 197-day work calendar must earn a total of 32 hours of comp time to account for the four Flex days on the district calendar.
  • The 32 hour requirement is equivalent to four (4), 8-hour workdays. *Remember, paraprofessionals earn comp/Flex time at time and a half, so actual hours worked to earn 32 comp hours is 21.33 hours.
  • 16 hours must be earned no later than November 19, 2021.
  • An additional 8 hours must be earned no later than December 16, 2021.
  • The remaining 8 hours must be earned by April 14, 2022.
  • Multiple opportunities to earn these required hours will be provided via district and campus opportunities.
  • In order to support the continued professional growth of our paraprofessionals, it is recommended that a minimum of 8 hours is earned by participating in professional learning.
  • All time (professional learning and otherwise) is to be recorded (in/out) using the CISD timekeeping system.
