As the founder of the Self-advocacy movement in India, Dr Bhuwan is paving the way for people with IDD to pursue inclusive higher education and develop their skills. Through the Think College! Programmes enable these individuals to access Inclusive higher educational opportunities and expand life options they never thought possible.

His Manovikas Charitable Society is an outstanding example of how much can be achieved with compassion and commitment since its foundation in 1997. A shining example of selfless service, Dr Alok has represented India in international exchange programs for persons with disabilities and presented a country paper in Japan back in 2001. In 2019, he was invited by the International Dance Council under UNESCO to present his music and dance therapy program at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris – a testament to his hard work, dedication and humanity.
Dr Alok has devoted thirty years of service to providing rehabilitation science and special education to people with disabilities through the Manovikas Charitable Society. His expertise has been elevated internationally, as he represented India in Japan in 2001 and presented a Music and Dance Therapy Programme at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in 2019.

Dr. Alok Bhuwan's exceptional work in the Disability Sector, his unwavering commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, civic and social responsibility, and unparalleled professionalism have earned him this recognition. The award is presented by Special Olympic Bharat, along with Samaprpan and other disability advocacy organisations.

Dr Alok's journey began in his hometown of Purnea, Bihar, where he completed his schooling at Zila School Purnea in 1990. He pursued further education and received training in Intellectual Disability and Vocational Rehabilitation at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (formerly known as NIMH), Secunderabad. He continued his studies at Osmania University, Hyderabad. His hard work and dedication paid off as he earned a doctorate in Special Education and Rehabilitation Science from International University.
His dedication towards serving others led him to establish Manovikas Charitable Society in Delhi in 1997. Today, he has touched the lives of over one million stakeholders through education, care, and advocacy programs. Dr Alok's selfless service is a shining example of how one individual can significantly impact the world.

डॉ. आलोक की यात्रा उनके गृह ज़िला पूर्णिया, बिहार से शुरू हुई, जहां उन्होंने 1990 में जिला स्कूल पूर्णिया में अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा पूरी की। उन्होंने आगे की शिक्षा हासिल की और बौद्धिक दिव्यांगता वाले व्यक्तियों के सशक्तिकरण के लिए राष्ट्रीय संस्थान, सिकंदराबाद में बौद्धिक दिव्यांगता और व्यावसायिक पुनर्वास में प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त किया (पहले एनआईएमएच के नाम से जाना जाता था)। उन्होंने हैदराबाद के उस्मानिया विश्वविद्यालय में अपनी पढ़ाई जारी रखी। उनकी कड़ी मेहनत और समर्पण सफल रहा और उन्होंने इंटरनेशनल यूनिवर्सिटी से विशेष शिक्षा और पुनर्वास विज्ञान में डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि प्राप्त की।
दूसरों की सेवा के प्रति उनके समर्पण ने उन्हें 19997 में दिल्ली में मनोविकास चैरिटेबल सोसाइटी की स्थापना करने के लिए प्रेरित किया। आज, उन्होंने शिक्षा, देखभाल और वकालत कार्यक्रमों के माध्यम से दस लाख से अधिक हितधारकों के जीवन को छुआ है। डॉ. आलोक की निस्वार्थ सेवा इस बात का ज्वलंत उदाहरण है कि कैसे एक व्यक्ति दुनिया पर महत्वपूर्ण प्रभाव डाल सकता है।
