Sponsorship and Fundraising

Last updated: August 19, 2021

Club Sponsorship

The OFVC may, at the discretion of the Board of Directors, enter into club-wide sponsorship agreements, committing coaches and players to uphold sponsorship-servicing requirements as a condition of participation in the OFVC.

Any proceeds from club sponsorships will be deposited to the club’s general account for use at the discretion of the Board of Directors in accordance with approved policies and budgets.

Any expense associated with servicing a club sponsor (i.e. complimentary tickets to year-end banquet, screening of logos on uniforms) shall be the responsibility of the Club.

The Director of Sponsorship and Fundraising shall present club sponsorship categories, prices and benefits to the Board for approval.

The OFVC shall permit club sponsor markings on team uniforms in accordance with the following guidelines:

  1. Markings must be compliant with OVA and Volleyball Canada rules.
  2. A maximum of five club sponsor markings on team uniforms shall normally apply.
  3. Only one Club Title sponsor marking shall be permitted to a maximum of 100 square centimeters.
  4. Other club sponsor markings shall be to a maximum size of 50 square centimeters.
  5. Proposed club sponsor markings on uniforms must have the prior approval of the Director of Marketing and Promotion with respect to design, colour, size and location.

Team Sponsorship

Teams are encouraged to solicit team-specific sponsorships, the proceeds of which shall be applied to team fees.  Sponsorship amounts received must be deposited directly to the team’s bank account.

The Director of Sponsorship and Fundraising shall present team sponsorship categories, prices and benefits to the Board for approval.

Any expense associated with servicing a team sponsor (i.e. complimentary tickets to closing banquet, thank-you gift, logo screening) shall be a responsibility of the respective team.

To ensure that proposed team sponsorships are not in conflict with club sponsorship agreements, are appropriate for a youth sports club, and are in compliance with OVA and Volleyball Canada rules, all proposed team sponsorships must receive prior approval from the Director of Sponsorship and Fundraising.  If sponsor markings are to be added to uniforms, prior approval of the Director of Marketing and Promotion must be obtained and the following guidelines apply:

  1. Markings must be compliant with OVA and Volleyball Canada rules.
  2. A maximum of three team sponsor markings on team uniforms shall normally apply.  Club sponsor markings shall have priority placement.
  3. Team sponsor markings shall be to a maximum size of 50 square centimeters.
  4. Proposed team sponsor markings on uniforms must have the prior approval of the Director of Marketing and Promotion with respect to design, colour, size and location.

Club Fundraising

The OFVC may, at the discretion of the Board of Directors, initiate club-wide fundraising activities.  The Board of Directors shall determine the level of required team participation.  A percentage of the proceeds from club fundraisers shall be returned to the team to be applied to team fees.  This percentage will be determined by the Board and communicated to teams in advance.

Team Fundraising

Teams are encouraged to organize fundraising activities to ease the financial burden for parents.  Proceeds from team fundraising are to be applied to team fees.

Improper fundraising activities could violate Ontario Lottery and Licensing Laws and jeopardize the Club’s fundraising efforts.  Teams initiating fundraising activities that are not already approved by the Club (OFVC Fundraising Guidelines) are, therefore, to receive prior approval in writing from the Director of Sponsorship and Fundraising (fundraising@ottawafusion.ca ).

All parents/players are encouraged to participate equally in fundraising activities.  Players and/or parents should be entitled to forgo participation in a designated team fundraising activity; however, they shall be expected to contribute to the team budget the equivalent of the participating players’ share of the proceeds.  Should a parent or player be unable to participate in a team fundraiser on an isolated basis and for a legitimate reason, the team parents should decide in advance whether the parent will be expected to contribute a prorated amount to the team.   Alternatively, the team may opt to allocate the proceeds of a fundraiser to only those players participating, e.g. if 9 of 12 players participate, the proceeds would be divided by 9 and applied to the team fees for those players.
