Screening Protocols

General

The health and safety of CSISD staff and students is a top priority. Students and staff should self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms regularly and individuals who present with symptoms should stay home.

Isolation Protocols

Students or Staff Displaying COVID-19 Symptoms

Quarantine Protocols

Individuals who have been in close contact with a person who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 should monitor for symptoms. Quarantine is not required by CSISD for individuals who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19.

If you choose to quarantine following close contact with someone who is lab confirmed to have COVID-19, please note the following:

Paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave as afforded by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) through December 31, 2020 and as extended by the CSISD board of trustees expired on June 30, 2021.

Return to Work/School Protocols

Note: Additional guidance is expected from the Texas Department of State Health Services in August 2021 regarding the isolation of individuals with COVID-19 and public schools. This information will be updated as new guidance is received.

In the event that a CSISD teacher, staff, student, or other campus visitor is lab confirmed positive for COVID-19, they must stay at home throughout the infection period.

Individuals who are confirmed to have COVID-19 will not be allowed to return to work/school as specified below:

*Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation

If an individual has tested positive for COVID-19 and believes the test was a false positive, and wants to return to school before completing the above stay at home period, the individual must either:

(a) obtain a medical professional’s note clearing the individual for return based on an alternative diagnosis, though for health privacy reasons the note does not need to indicate what the alternative diagnosis is, or

(b) obtain two PCR acute infection tests (at a physician’s office, approved testing location, or other site) at least 24 hours apart that come back negative for COVID-19.

Protocols for Face Coverings

In accordance with the Governor’s most recent executive order, CSISD may not require the use of face coverings. Students and staff who wish to wear face coverings are certainly encouraged to do so.

Protocols for Disinfecting and Hand Sanitizing

General

Frequent disinfection and hand sanitization will ensure health and wellness of students and staff.

Campus Cleaning

Additional Cleaning for COVID-19 Positive Cases

If a classroom or facility is closed due to COVID-19 spread, hospital grade disinfectant will be used. Any areas heavily used by the lab-confirmed case will be closed off until the non-porous surfaces can be disinfected, unless more than 3 days have passed since that person was on campus.
