- More regents prep (start earlier)
- Student vote on day performance – when tests are given
- Block scheduling for more time
- In-class prep / earlier start w/ mock regents
- Swap out electives for regents prep classes
- Tutoring with different (non-course) teachers
- Work in small groups (10 max) grouped according to need/level
- Wasted time on class management / more discipline options throughout the school
- Crack down on kids with consequences
- Academics over arts (give students a choice)
- Pull out of arts programs until grades go up
- Academies within the school – sort by different learning tactics
- How do we change/bring around struggling students?
- Counseling for those students who make it difficult for others
- Peer pressure / ridicule in the classroom undoes the counseling process; also fear of counselors doing mandated reporting
- Students want to be seen & heard so they do inappropriate things to get attention
- Community days > end of term celebration day
- Acting out met w/ Champion Club (teachers invest time in individual students – mentoring, championing that student)
