Oklahoma Boys State, May 23-30, 2026

Rising 12th grade.  

For one week, Oklahoma’s finest young men gather to study the government of Oklahoma through classroom work and various simulations. Simulations include a mock legislature, state executive offices, and a court system. In addition to classroom work, instruction also features a Leadership Academy and a Law School for lawyers, judges, and law enforcement officers, and an Emergency Management/Response school where delegates learn how communities and the state respond to crisis. Boys State has been a program since the 1930s.

COST: $349.

Oklahoma State University Sports Media Camp, June 10-13, 2026

Applicants must be 16 or older.  

Each summer, Oklahoma State hosts a four-day, on-campus Sports Media Camp for high school students interested in working in the sport communication industry. The OSU Sports Media Camp is directed by OSU Sports Media faculty member Dave Hunizker, the official voice of the OSU Cowboys, with other OSU Sports Media faculty serving as camp instructors.  Camp attendees attain practical experience in broadcasting play-by-play, sport media production, sports reporting fundamentals and sports writing. Aspiring sports media professionals have come from all over the country to attend this camp, with many eventually enrolling in the OSU Sports Media program.

University of San Francisco Pre-College, July 5-18, 2026

Rising 9th-12th graders.

Georgetown University Online Surgery Courses, 2 and 4 week options beginning May 31, 2026

Ages 13+.

If you are a student who is intrigued with how surgeons save lives, Georgetown University’s Becoming a Surgeon: Skills, Specialties, and Diseases is an awesome challenge.

 

Students get a thorough introduction to the skills required to be a surgeon. They take a tour of the operating room and learn the makeup of an OR team. They’ll hear from specialists in the field: from abdominal surgeons to neuro, orthopedic, and plastic surgeons. They’ll even design a model of the abdomen and study major diseases that often require surgical intervention. If you are a student with a keen interest in pursuing a future in medicine, this course is a must.

American University (AU) offers high school students the opportunity to pursue their interests in greater depth by enrolling in 1-credit online courses covering a range of topics, from global public health and law to biotechnology and public speaking. By enrolling in an AU Summer Scholars course, you will enjoy a stimulating, rigorous, and personalized college-level learning experience especially tailored to high school students. Students will access their course via AU's Canvas platform at hours that suit their own schedules and will have four weeks to complete all assignments.

NanoExplorers: A High School Summer Science Academy, June 14-19 and 21-26, 2026

Rising 9th-11th grade students.  

Cameron University in Lawton, OK.  Do you want to learn how to build and program an aquatic drone, to learn how DNA is used to solve crimes in Forensics or to learn about the physics of amusement parks. You will check in on Sunday night, June 15, and spend the week learning about nanostructures and nanotechnology.  You will visit Frontier City in Oklahoma City on Friday, June 20 and meet your parents in Oklahoma City or Lawton and go home for the weekend.  You will return on Sunday night, June 22 and spend another week building circuits, learning about polymers and how we characterize a stream or lake as an environmental chemist.  On Friday, we will have closing activities which will include PowerPoint presentations, an academy quiz bowl, chemical magic shows, preparation of home-made ice cream and academy evaluations.

Business/Economics: Free Enterprise Leadership Challenge, Variety of college campuses

Rising 10th-12th grade students.

Five-day residential program in which students learn about free market economics first-hand as they form companies by working in small groups.  The goal of FELC is to educate students about entrepreneurship, the differences between capitalism and socialism, free market economics, personal responsibility, principled leadership and corporate/personal philanthropy.  Activities and lessons are designed for students to create meaningful practical applications.

COST: $225.  Very affordable option, but you would need to pay for a flight.

Four Star Leadership, July 18-24, 2026

Rising 10th-12th grade students.

Leadership and scholarship program with General Tommy Franks.  Students will be challenged with practical leadership and ethical scenarios and then asked to address them individually in a persuasive speech and writing competition as well as collaboratively in an ethics bowl competition. The program includes team-building exercises, spontaneous problem solving and coaching in persuasive speaking and writing. Hosted on the University of Central Oklahoma campus in Edmond, OK.

DISCOVER THE WORLD OF FORENSIC ACCOUNTING

LEADERSHIP: American Legion Auxiliary Oklahoma Girls State 2026, May 24-29, 2026

Current female juniors.  The ALA Oklahoma Girls State American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Oklahoma Girls State is an educational program focused on government, leadership and patriotism.  Delegates should have high moral character, leadership qualities, an ability to work with others, and an interest in government.  During this weeklong summer camp, delegates create and operate city, county and state governments, while developing leadership skills and an appreciation of their rights as a citizen.  Delegates must salute the flag of the United States and show it proper respect.  We are not a sponsored school, so delegates will need to register as an at-large delegate.

Happy Hands Volunteering

A school for children with hearing loss or communication disorders. There are many ways you can help as a short-term or ongoing Happy Hands volunteer. From rocking babies to helping in the office, you can make an impact in the lives of these children by giving an invaluable gift–your time.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and attend an orientation class.

Baylor University Engineering and Computer Science Innovate Summer Camp, July 12-17 or July 19-24, 2026

Rising 11th and 12th graders.

This immersive, hands-on experience is designed for students who are curious, creative and excited about technology and innovation. Explore real-world engineering and computer science alongside Baylor faculty.

MASH (Math and Science Health Careers Camp) @ OU-Tulsa, June 15-18, 2026

During this academy, campers will participate in a series of stimulating, hands-on learning activities including experimentation with DNA extraction, blood typing, trauma care and suturing. Students will apply math and science skills used in health careers. MASH Camp provides students the opportunity to make informed decisions about college, play the role of various health care professionals and be provided the tools to take full advantage of their high school education. MASH Camp will be held at the OU-Tulsa Schusterman Center from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.

Program Spotlight: Brain Mythbusters: Unraveling SCIENCE in Neuroscience

How much of our brains do we really use? Are we really “right-brained” or “left-brained”?

Misconceptions about the structure and function of the human brain are all too common. Once these myths are widely disseminated, it is often difficult to separate scientific fact from fiction. This module will examine some of these myths, and provide you with the science and investigative tools to effectively debunk them. You will have the opportunity to examine real brains, observe direct brain manipulation techniques, and interact with researchers in their laboratories. As part of a team, you will select a cluster of related myths to evaluate, present the scientific evidence to dispel them, and create games to educate others about these misconceptions.

Anytown Leadership Institute is an award-winning human relations program hosted on the Oklahoma State University campus. This program promotes self-confidence, leadership, and inclusion in a diverse atmosphere. During the program, delegates participate in a variety of workshops and activities that develop their awareness and skills to lead in a diverse society. In a respectful environment and guided by experienced staff, delegates have the opportunity to discuss topics such as bullying, racial discrimination, and gender stereotypes. Close Up's NextGen Roundtable: Decision 2026, July 8-11, 2026

When the midterm elections arrive on November 3, 2026, young Americans will face more than one important choice. Can they surpass the record 28 percent nationwide turnout among 18-29-year-olds in the 2018 midterms? Will young voters make decisions that are thoughtfully considered and informed by a wide range of perspectives other than their own?

From July 8-11, Close Up, the Stanford University Deliberative Democracy Lab (DDL), Generation Lab, and the Hoover Institution’s Center for Revitalizing American Institutions will host NextGen Roundtable: Decision 2026, a large-scale experiment in democracy launched through our work on 2024’s America in One Room: The Youth Vote. We’re convening a nationally representative and scientific sample of first-time voters from across the country to listen to each other and deliberate key policy issues in a reasoned and mutually respectful way.

St. John Ascension Student Volunteer Program

The Ascension St. John Auxiliary Junior Volunteer Program provides high school students ages 15-18 who have completed the ninth grade with opportunities to perform community service and explore medical careers, as well as meet other students from the Tulsa area.

● The Junior Volunteer Program application may be used for both the summer and school year programs.

● The summer program fills up quickly. Beginning in January, applications are accepted for the Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday summer sessions. The summer program lasts eight amazing weeks and begins in early June and ends in late July. Students must commit to serving a minimum of 50 hours this summer.

Bucknell Academy Summer Experience (BASE), June 21-26, 2026

WYSE Summer Camps at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Grainger College of Engineering are designed to provide STEM-interested students the opportunity to experience advanced curricula at one of the best engineering schools in the nation and the world. The camps provide exposure to different areas of engineering through demonstrations, classroom presentations, hands-on activities, and interactions with various students, staff, and professors in those fields. Explore up to 10 different disciplines within engineering. There are virtual and residential camps available.

Texas Christian University High School Investor Challenge, June 1-5 or 15-19, 2026

This program is designed for students with an interest in business, finance and economics. Students explore the world of investing and the stock market through

hands-on experience in financial analysis and portfolio management. The program offers students the chance to manage a $100,000 virtual portfolio, and then work with current TCU students to make decisions and evaluate performance.

The Sports Business MVP Boot Camp is designed for ambitious students who are passionate about pursuing a career in the dynamic world of sports business. Students will learn about sports marketing, data analytics, and athletic representation and sports agency.

University of Arkansas Architecture and Interior Design Camp, June 15-19 or June 22-26, 2026

Grades 9-12. Design Camp offers the chance to learn about the design professions through hands-on projects, tours, presentations and discussions led by architecture, landscape architecture and interior design faculty of the Fay Jones School. Students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and collaborate with peers in a fun and creative studio environment as they explore the design process.

Saint Francis Volunteering

Ages 14-17.

Student volunteers are trained in most of the same areas as adult volunteers. Serving in both clerical (office) and clinical (patient) areas, student volunteers will help in a variety of roles with different tasks and duties.

Your job as a student volunteer has many responsibilities. You are subject to a code of ethics, policies, procedures, and dress codes similar to that which governs the professionals at Saint Francis Hospital. A minimum commitment of 4 hours a week AND and a total of 25 hours for the summer is required to participate. Give careful consideration to your day and time preference on the application. Schedule changes are difficult to make after orientation. The earlier your application is received, the greater the possibility of being scheduled for your preferred choices. Our student program fills up fast and often has a waiting list. Please be certain you can fulfill this commitment before applying. The hospital enjoys and depends on our wonderful student volunteers!

Rosetta Institute of Biomedical Research Biomedical Camps

All high school students (completion of high school biology recommended, but not required). Our workshops are designed for high-achieving high school students who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine, biomedical research, pharmacy, or other careers within the health sciences. Our instructors are PhD-level scientists who are actively engaged in the field of medical research, and they expose students to

cutting-edge molecular biology through engaging lectures, real-world labs, and independent projects.

Costs range from $510-$3680 (online workshop vs residential program).

Residential fees for the university-based workshops in the US (Cancer/Neuroscience/Immunology/Aging/Bioinformatics/Astrobiology) are $3680. Residential tuition includes room and board, transportation to/from the airport (UCB/UCSD only, with restrictions), custom T shirt/lanyard/notebook/pen, weekend field trip and some recreational activities, and workshop materials. There are a limited number of non-residential commuter spots available for $2280 (includes lunch, T shirt/lanyard/notebook/pen and all activities).

Global Leadership/Service Adventures/Conservation Expeditions: Walking Tree 

Great program! Walking Tree teaches the value of community service, international travel, and language learning in an immersion environment. Destinations include Costa Rica, China, Italy, Germany, Guatemala, Perú, and more. Scholarships available.

Drexel University Summer Institutes 2026

Rising 10-12th (some programs are just 11th and 12th ).

Drexel's summer academic programs are summer camps open to highly motivated high school students who wish to explore what a university-level program is all about. Workshops are led by Drexel faculty and utilize Drexel's labs, facilities, and the city of Philadelphia's many resources. I’ve had a student attend one of the institutes with great feedback.

KU Engineering Camps is a week-long, intensive learning camp for high school students interested in the field. Campers will have the opportunity to choose from different engineering disciplines and work closely with KU faculty and graduate students as they complete a hands-on project. During the camp, students will receive an up-close experience of KU’s campus including the School of Engineering’s classrooms and labs.

Gateway to Business

Gateway to Business is a comprehensive hybrid course that introduces students to business, leadership and teamwork skills development, and career preparedness. This course is designed for high school students who may or may not be interested in pursuing business as a major or minor. Curriculum for the course includes a foundational view of business, creative problem solving, experiential learning, professional communications, career strategies and the creation of a professional development plan, and entrepreneurship curriculum that includes real-world examples of founding, operating and exiting a startup, how to think like an entrepreneur, and potential career paths.

Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) at the U.S. Military Academy

Rising seniors.

SLE offers an authentic look at cadet life and challenges students academically, militarily, physically, and socially. Participants will experience:

● Hands-on academic workshops: Choose from 17 sessions taught by West Point faculty.

● Physical and military training: Army PT workouts, obstacle courses (indoor and outdoor), the Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA), and more.

● Leadership and character development: Team-building exercises, the Leader Reaction Course, ethics discussions, and cadet-led activities.

Students can choose between three SLE sessions:

Oklahoma Business Week is a one-of-a-kind summer program that offers students in high school first-hand experience in the world of business with a focus on technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship! North Carolina State University: Summer Textile Exploration Program, Four 1-week sessions

During the morning students participate in sessions learning about the five degree programs offered in the College of Textiles, applying the NC State University, Centennial Scholarship, future internship and job opportunities, and visit local textile companies. St. John Ascension Junior Volunteer

The Ascension St. John Auxiliary Junior Volunteer Program provides high school students ages 15-18 who have completed the ninth grade with opportunities to perform community service and explore medical careers, as well as meet other students from the Tulsa area

● The summer program fills up quickly. Beginning in January, applications are accepted for the Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday summer sessions. In addition to serving a placement, classes and guest speakers are hosted so students learn about other opportunities first hand from specialty areas. The summer program lasts eight amazing weeks and begins in early June and ends in late July.

● Upon receiving an application, we will contact you to schedule an interview. No membership dues are required, but junior volunteers must purchase their own uniforms. Volunteers are required to submit immunization records, have TB tests, and participate in orientation. The application process includes obtaining two references from teachers or other leaders (please, no family members), interviewing and attending an orientation session. The reference needs to be over the age of 21 and the reference needs to know the applicant for a minimum of one year.

executive styled retreat where qualified high school juniors explore the fundamental

The University of Tulsa TURC Jr. Scholars 

Rising seniors.  

The Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge is an intensive summer-long program.  Projects/topics include anti-cancer drug discovery, robotics, water purification, medicinal chemistry, nanotechnology, and sustainable energy engineering. Research groups are led by faculty mentors recognized for their ability to work effectively with students and to make significant contributions to cutting-edge research. The "Cherubs" program is a 5-week Theatre, Film, and Debate summer institute in its 91st year. Students apply to either the Film and Video, Theatre Arts, Playwriting, or Debate program. The Film program combines the technical and theoretical components of filmmaking, while the Theatre Arts program has two tracks: stage performance or stage management/tech.

Travel/Service/Language Immersion Global Works, Various Summer Dates

Ages 13-18. Travel with purpose. For 35 years, Global Works has been providing exceptional Community Service, Cultural Exchange, Adventure Travel, and Language Immersion programs for teens. A common trait for participants includes a desire to learn more about other people and cultures. The programs take students to visit three to five different communities, providing a cross-section of cultures and environments— from rural villages to capital cities. Community Service projects are an
