About this Faith Community

Our vision is to develop fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. This will be achieved by becoming a church determined to establish a Christian culture in an un-Christian culture. We believe that every soul is worthy in the sight of God. Therefore, each lost soul shall be given an opportunity to hear, to see, and to experience the love of Christ at work in us, through us and by us. This we believe shall be done through seeking to save the lost, discipling the saved, and sending the believer into the world to be an Ambassador of Christ, the Light and Salt of the earth.

Values
1. KNOWING GOD
We want everyone to know God and discover who they are as sons and daughters. It’s in knowing our identity that we find freedom and experience renewal in our lives inspiring us to move in a new direction towards the will of God and all He has for us.
2. CONNECTING WITH OTHERS
We are called to love unconditionally and meant for community. No one should go through the highs and lows of life alone when we can go on the journey together. God has made us to experience connection and relationship with one another.
3. TRANSFORMING OUR CITY
We will work together to make disciples that are spiritually empowered, joyful, and servants of all. We want to help others find their gifts and partner with them to be a light wherever they go.  God is ready to bring transformation to our city through each one of us.

About this Faith Community

Ardmore Baptist is an autonomous, local body of believers which determines its own

direction, values and beliefs. From our earliest beginnings in 1927, this congregation has recognized the importance of cooperation with other Christians. In that togetherness, we know that we find strength and resources which enable us to accomplish more than we could ever do on our own.

Distinctives
1. Worship matters to us, and we seek to make it meaningful to all who gather.
2. We have many generations under one roof.
3. We are a neighborhood church, with a regional reach, committed to local and global missions.
4. We value music and music education. We are dedicated to teaching music fundamentals and skills.
5. We affirm our Baptist heritage of soul freedom, Bible freedom, church freedom, and religious freedom.
6. We believe women and men have the full freedom to exercise their gifts.
7. We are passionate about extending hospitality to strangers and those in need.
8. We believe in the value of sacred space: our sanctuary is a “work of heart” that visually communicates the gospel story.

Vision
Much of life is about connection. As human beings, we are designed to connect with each other and with God, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. We want to connect you to the life of Christ so that you discover the life you were created for.

Mission
Connecting people to Christ and community. This is our mission. When a community of ordinary people come together to worship an extraordinary God, we find acceptance, peace, and hope. Although we have diverse backgrounds and life experiences, we are connected by a common love for Jesus. Together, through Christ, we are drawn together and launched out to a broken world.

Beliefs
The Calvary family has a variety of cultural, social and even religious backgrounds. Even though we are all different in many ways, there is one thing that connects us – the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, our core beliefs are reflected in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

About this Faith Community

Our congregation is a place where organic community forms and flourishes. We worship together, serve together, share meals together, grow together, and get to know each other.  We build strong, genuine relationships where we are challenged and loved to sustain us in our everyday lives.
The EBC family is a community of genuine acceptance—we welcome anyone who enters our doors.  You don’t have to look a certain way, or think a certain way, or live a certain way to be a part of the Emerywood Community. We embrace each person’s individuality. Together we share challenges, encourage one another, and grow on the journey of faith.

Emerywood doesn’t want to just do mission, but to be a part of changing the world around us with the way we live our lives every day. At the very core of our identity, both individually and as a congregation, is a commitment to loving our neighbors, serving each other, and extending compassion into the lives our congregation, our neighborhood, our community and our world.

At EBC, we take our faith seriously. We do not tell you what you should believe, but ask you to think for yourself. By looking at Scripture and Christian traditions from different angles and in different forms, we ask challenging questions, and encourage us to discover the answers together—as individuals, and as a community. We think in new, creative, and different ways, and we invite those in our fold to figure out what faith means at a personal level, and consider how we live out our faith it our in your everyday lives.

The Emmanuel vision consists of spiritually and culturally developing and maturing members through mature biblical and faith studies, spirituality and denominational education, family and parenting life skills information, African/African American studies/traditions, and technological orientation and training through workshops, seminars, retreats, classes and conventions.

Together we hope to makes these gifts a thoughtful and conscious part of our daily lives.

About this Faith Community

Adoration: By adoration we mean the worship of the triune God through the sacrament of the holy Eucharist. Everything we do at St. Timothy's flows from and is informed by the adoration of Jesus Christ.

Formation: Formation is our growth in Christ as people of God. Formation is more than being educated in Christianity because it involves a complete renewal of who we are – a change of our identity and worldview. We never graduate from being formed in our faith or achieve completion in our growth; rather our formation in Christ is a lifelong journey that affects every area of our life.

Transformation: Transformation is change. Transformation takes place in our hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit, but is evidenced in our lives as we actively live out God’s love.   We can feel this change—as we inwardly wrestle with the best ways to live and love; we can see this change—as we actively engage all of creation to share God’s hope and love.

We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves and respect the dignity of every person. The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, and traces its heritage to the beginnings of Christianity. Our liturgy retains ancient structure and traditions and is celebrated in many languages. Both men and women, including those who are married, are eligible for ordination as deacons, priests and bishops. We believe in amendment of life, the forgiveness of sin, and life everlasting. Lay people exercise a vital role in the governance and ministry of our church. Holy Communion may be received by all baptized Christians, not only members of the Episcopal Church. We uphold the Bible and worship with the Book of Common Prayer. We affirm that committed relationships are lifelong and monogamous. Episcopalians also recognize that there is grace after divorce and do not deny the sacraments to those who have been divorced. We affirm that issues such as birth control are matters of personal informed conscience. We celebrate our unity in Christ while honoring our differences, always putting the work of love before uniformity of opinion. All are welcome to find a spiritual home in the Episcopal Church.

About this Faith Community

At Augsburg, we practice open communion with anyone who has taken communion anywhere else (including children), and we offer first communion classes for anyone who wants to learn. We baptize infants and adults. Since there is nothing we can do to earn God’s grace, Lutheran baptism is “grace based” rather than “faith based.” In the event of infants, the parents and sponsors promise to raise the child among God’s faithful people and place the scriptures in their hands when the time comes. We also practice the rite of Confirmation for youth as they transition to becoming adults. As Luther himself was a student and professor, Lutherans believe highly in education and conversation. Confirmation runs in the Spring Semester for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Students and is taught by a combination of pastors, staff, and lay teachers. For more theological conversation, feel free to attend a Sunday School class, bible study, or contact a pastor.

While we know that we are broken people who often fall short of what God has intended, we also believe that God loves us and works through us anyway. The Spirit has gifted each member in many ways, but none of us have all the gifts; thus we need each other, and seek to listen and encourage one another as we seek to follow in Christ’s way together. Grateful for God’s loving and transforming work with us, we work to be a means of grace and blessing in the midst of a hurting world. We invite you to join us on this wondrous journey of faith we share.

The sanctuary was constructed by the congregation between 1890 and 1907. It is the oldest historically African American church worshiping in its original building and location in Forsyth County, North Carolina. It is the only example of carpenter-built Gothic architecture in Forsyth County. It was recognized as a historic site in 1998, and received a National Register of Historic Places designation. About this Faith Community

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Winston-Salem has been a progressive religious voice in the city since 1951. Out faith’s roots go deep into ancient Christian questions (Trinitarian vs. Unitarian, Universal Salvation), and our branches encompass many faith traditions as well as humanism and atheism. Our mission is to foster spiritual growth, care for each other, protect and preserve the earth, and work for peace and justice. We welcome people regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, disability or personal belief about God.

About this Faith Community

In worship we blend traditional liturgical elements with unique appeals to the senses. We blend classical choral anthems with special musicians sharing folk, classical and gospel. Congregational singing blends classic hymns with spirituals, Taizé chant and folk tunes. We are a church which honors the contemplative traditions and silence, but also knows how to raise a joyful noise! We use inclusive language, strive to use language honoring other faith traditions, and use common ecumenical cycle for scripture readings. We celebrate Communion on the last Sunday of the month, either by forming a circle around the perimeter of the sanctuary and passing the bread and cup or by coming forward to the front and receiving the bread and cup from the pastor and lay assistants. All are welcome to share in Communion.

About this Faith Community

Worship is a time to put oneself in the pathway of the Spirit. There’s no telling what might happen. The experience in worship is a blend of traditional Methodist liturgy, free-church African American influence, Hispanic culture, social gospel, all stuck together with a jazz-fused gravy. Green Street is blessed to have some of the best jazz and blues musicians in the city sharing their musical gifts as a part of their devotion to the church. The hour may be Sunday at 11:00, but sometimes the music comes from Saturday night. We celebrate diversity through dissonant harmonies, heartfelt prayers, syncopated rhythms, spirituals and freedom songs, preaching that challenges the mind and heart. Come and see for yourself.
