🔐 Logging (back) into TrendTracker

When you created your account, you are already logged into TrendTracker.
The next time you want to track your performance in TrendTracker you
DO NOT have to log in again.

This means you do not have to go to https://app.trendtracker.io/login

The best thing to do is bookmark this URL:
https://app.trendtracker.io/dashboard

You can just follow this URL to access your dashboard where you will find all the connected pages.

🤝 Connecting or disconnecting pages

Whenever you want to connect or disconnect any pages from TrendTracker you need to take the following steps.

🔗
Connecting your ad account(s)

After you created your TrendTracker account, you will be redirected to the TrendTracker Dashboard.

In the dashboard, you will see all the pages that you selected in the previous step.

Each page will have its own “tile” The image is the header image from the page itself.

To connect your ad account you click “connect”, you will then see a pop-up where you can select the ad account and where you will select the niche.

When you selected the ad account and the niche, you click connect.
Within a few seconds, you will see a confirmation message
.

👀 View reports - Out of the box

When you connected the ad accounts to the connected pages, you can click the view reports button.

When you generate a report for the first time, it can take up to 30 seconds to load.
This can feel like an eternity, but TrendTracker is pulling in the data from the META API for the last 31 days.

Do not refresh the page while it's retrieving the data. Wait for it to load.
When the data is complete you will automatically be redirected to the dashboard.

Out of the box, you will see the data from the last 30 days in all the reports.

This data shows the performance data at the account level. The default attribution window is 1DV/7DC

🌈 Color coding explained

Out of the box, the color coding is anchored around the median values for each KPI over the selected period.  When a performance value for a specific KPI on a certain day is  1% above or 1% below, or ON the exact median value, the color is yellow.

Using the median can be helpful when there are extreme values, or outliers, in the data. These outliers can skew the average and give you a misleading idea of what the typical value is.

Green is good, but red is not so good…

There are 4 shades of green and 4 shades of red.  When a value for a specific KPI is 10% above
or below the median value, the cell will be the first shade of red / green.

When a value for a specific KPI is between 10 and 20% above or below the median value, the cell will be the second shade of red or green.

🏆Set your goals

Out-of-the-box Trendtracker shows you if certain KPIs are performing better or worse compared to the median value for that KPI.

But what you really want and need to know is how your performance is stacking up against your “business” goals.

To do this, you need to set your goals within the dashboard. This should not take more than a minute.

Although each report in TrendTracker has its own goal set, the most important one is the goal set for the Top Level Biz KPIs

After you clicked the “Set Goal” button in the top left corner of the dashboard you can enter the requested goal values.

NOTE:  Only when you configured the Top Level Biz KPIs goals you will be able to use the Ai-powered performance summary generator and the TrendAlerts.

📊 Account-level data vs campaign-level data

Out of the box, TrendTracker shows you the performance data at the account level. But you can quickly drill down to campaign-level performance data.

The only thing you have to do is select the campaign you want to see the performance for in the dropdown menu.

When you select your campaign, the page will reload and will then show the data for that specific campaign only.

When you selected a campaign and when toggling between reports, it will show the performance data for that campaign in each report.

🗓️ Date range selector explained

The date range selector allows you to select a date range of max 31 days.

When you selected a date range and when toggling between reports, it will show the performance data for the selected date range in each report.

When you want to see the data for 1 day. You can click on date twice and it will load the data for that day only.

🤓 Trend Reports explained

Specifications for Meta Pixel standard events

This report starts with the outbound CTR % and shows you how the traffic from these outbound clicks is flowing through your website.  In this report, the values are anchored around the total number of outbound clicks vs the previous steps.

Use this report to get immediate insights into the quality of the traffic you are sending to the website. Use this report to identify a possible high bounce rate.

📸 Performance snapshots

The performance snapshot allows you to create a snapshot of the color-coded performance report for the selected date range. You can create a snapshot for a report from 1 day up to 31 days.

When you saved the snapshot you can easily upload it into the editor of the performance summary generator.  🤯

🔔 Enable and Configure TrendAlerts

TrendAlerts are notifications you will receive when a certain KPI is underperforming.

At the time of writing, TrendAlerts can only be sent via browser push notifications. Additional channels like, Email, and Slack will be added.

But don’t let this stop you to enable and configure your TrendAlerts ASAP.

Step one is to enable the push notifications channel.

Step two is to configure the Trend Alerts

To configure and enable Trend Alerts navigate to the “Trend Alerts” tab next to the “Channels” tab.

You can configure Trend Alerts to be sent when the average ROAS, AOV or CPA over the last 3 or 7 days is X% above or below the goal, you set for ROAS, AOV, and CPA.

Keep in mind that you need to set your goals for Trend Alerts to work.

🤖Ai Powered Performance summary generator (BETA)

The Performance summary generator is a neat feature that will help you save lots of time.

With the help of GPT-4 (the most powerful model from OpenAi), you can generate a performance summary report based on the time frame you selected.

To use this feature, you do
not have to have an open AI account or API key. We handle all that for you. You also don’t have to write a prompt.

The only thing you need to do before you can generate your reports is set your goals in the Top Level Biz KPI’s reporting view. When you did not set your goals, you will NOT be able to generate a report.

When you have set your goals and you’re ready to generate a report, select the date range and click the generate button.

When you click the generate button, it will take up to 60 seconds (I know, it's slow) for the report to be ready for you to access.

We
DO NOT include any sensitive data like account name, brand name, account iD’s or anything like that. It's just plain performance data.

At the time of writing this (April 2023) I consider this feature to be in BETA.
It works fine and it is already powerful, but it is not yet there where I would want it to be.

Use it to generate summary reports and do include screenshots from the performance reports. This should save you a few hours per week already.

That said until further notice please take the suggested strategies at the end of the report with a grain of salt. These are 100% powered by Ai. We don’t control this output.
We are working on a system that should drastically improve these suggestions.

Offline conversion integration

There are 3 tasks that need to be completed.

🔔 IMPORTANT:
We have found that in some cases the Shopify or Woocomerce data is NOT visible in events manager. We suspect that is because Facebook is still rolling out the new data set structure.

Please reach out to rutger@trendtracker.io when you want to configure the offline events with these webhooks. We’ll assist with the setup, so we can also learn how to improve.

Good reads:

  1. Create a data set inside Facebook events manager
  2. Generate a Shopify or Woocomerce webhook in TrendTracker
  3. Add the webhook in the webhook section in Shopify or Woocomerce

The setup should take at most 3 minutes. When the below-mentioned steps are completed conversion data from the connected sources will be sent to your data set in your BM.

IMPORTANT: The TrendTracker Offline Conversion Integration will NOT WORK with an OG offline event set id.

  1. Create a data set (or use an existing set)
  1. Go to Events Manager.
  2. Navigate to the green plus sign and select Connect Data Sources.
  3. Select Offline and then click Connect.
  4. You’ll see the option to either create a dataset or skip it for now.
Click Get Started to create a dataset.
  5. Enter a name for your dataset. Choose a unique name that will help you identify your dataset when you need to select it for other tasks like creating an ad or a Custom Audience.
  6. Click OK.

  1. Generate the Shopify or Woocom webhook in Trendtracker

3. Add the webhook to Shopify or Woocom

Calculations

How are the values calculated in the Traffic conversion funnel?

Click here to see the exact calculation for this report

How are the values calculated in the Site conversion funnel?

Click here to see the exact calculation for this report

How can it be that some values are greater than 100%

Let's say you’re looking at the Traffic conversion funnel and you see that the value
for OC - VC = +100%

When the % value is above 100% this means that the number of attributed website content views is higher than the number of attributed “outbound clicks”

This could happen when someone saw your ad on day 1 but did not click. Then 3 days later you send out an email announcing a sale. Those people who viewed an ad, and now “view content’ will be included in the total # of view contents.

What attribution window is used?

The default attribution window is 1DV/7DC.
