We investigated the physical and chemical properties of several materials in hopes of determining the mystery powder! | ELA Upcoming Content: We are continuing our book, Inside Out and Back Again. Each student has a book and workbook that they need to bring everyday. Students had their first mid-unit assessment last week. All students had the opportunity to complete test corrections. Dates to Remember:
Math 8 Upcoming Content: In Math 8, we have started to learn about triangles and different ways to classify them - sides (scalene, isosceles, and equilateral), and their angles (acute, right, and obtuse). Dates to Remember: Star Math Assessment - 9/29/25 Unit 1 Test - 10/01/25
Math I Upcoming Content: Our math class recently finished Unit 1 with recursive and explicit sequences. We will be moving on to linear and exponential equations. Dates to Remember: Star Math Assessment - 9/26/25
Math 2 Upcoming Content: Students are completing their study of Transformations on the coordinate plane this week. We will begin a short unit on Geometric construction next week. Students will need a compass starting next Wednesday. Dates to Remember: 9/8-Unit 1 PAT 9/15 or 9/16 Unit 1 Test

Conexiones Spanish Immersion In 8th grade Spanish, we are working on a Hispanic Heritage Month project where groups are researching Argentina and Venezuela through topics such as gastronomy, popular games, general information, famous people, traditional music, and touristic places. Students are also preparing cultural dances, including the Joropo and the Gaucho, for our presentation. In grammar, we are reviewing the present perfect tense, and there will be a quiz next Wednesday
Science Upcoming Content: Good morning Ranger parents!Last week I introduced students to Matter and the Properties of matter in our first Chemistry unit. I also challenged them to remember 40 element symbols. We had a quiz on them today, Sept 26. This week we continued to look at properties of matter. Students investigated a mystery powder. They had to identify the properties of known substances and then identify the components of the mystery powder based on their observations. We finished up today, Sept 26 but several students did not have the opportunity to finish. Next week we will focus on the classification of matter as an element, compound or mixture and will have a quiz on friday. I have a Week in Review to highlight homework and lessons for the week. You can find the link here. I have Unit Guides to help students and parents with extra resources. Important Dates: (All dates subject to change due to student learning needs) 10/3- Quiz- properties and classification 9/18- Creature lab due 9/26- Element Quiz 9/26- All make up work due 9/26

Science Upcoming Content: Good morning Ranger parents! Last week we practiced making observations by studying the effect of different types of water on a growing creature collecting data such as mass, volume and length. This also helped us understand the difference between different types of observations. This week we continued to look at measurements such as density. We worked through and practiced several problems. We also did a simulation to look at the effect that changing mass and volume have on density. Students had the opportunity to complete a make up worksheet to replace the Density Problems if they did poorly. We also looked at graphing and the scientific method to round up the week. Friday we revisited our lab last week to complete the analysis questions. Next week we will have a test and begin our next unit on chemistry starting with matter and the properties of matter. I have a Week in Review to highlight homework and lessons for the week. You can find the link here. I have Unit Guides to help students and parents with extra resources.
