Updates and Reminders for the week ending 2.28.25

This Week We…

Math: Students finished module 2 this week, focusing on using different strategies to add and subtract!

ELA: We finished our story “The Legend of the Blue Bonnet” and students used a google doc to type their paragraph.  Students also saved the document in their drive, and emailed to the teacher to print!  

Phonics:  Students took an assessment on Unit 7, open syllable.

Science/ Social Studies: Students continued lessons on science4us on sound.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL): We continued our 2nd Step lessons.

Next Week We Will…

Math: We will begin module 3 this week, identifying polygons and attributes, specifically with quadrilaterals.

ELA: Students continue the story next week, “The Legend of the Bluebonnet.”  Students will determine the central message and moral of the story.

Phonics:  Students will begin Unit 8, r-controlled vowels.  This is a new syllable type students will be learning, and we will begin with /ar/ and /or/.

Science/ Social Studies: We will focus on sound and vibrations.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL): We will continue bully lessons in 2nd step.

Moments to Celebrate!

Students had such a great time this week competing with other grade levels to raise money for PBIS!  They loved “sabotaging” other grade levels, and we can’t wait to see the results of how much we have raised!

We Need Your Help

• Make sure your child is at school on time, walking in by 7:57 each morning!  We also have a new tardy/sign in system.
• It is important that your child come each day with a full water bottle, and a snack!
• As students wear outerwear, please take the time to label your student’s coats, sweaters and hoodies with their names.

Announcements and Reminders

2nd grade is excited to announce our first field trip on March 18th, to watch the play “The Magic School Bus”.  Please look out for more information on how to pay and sign permission form!
