Happy New Year! This week we will settle back into routine in our classroom. I encourage you to do this at home too. Children thrive with routine. When they know what to expect they are better able to relax. Remember to send your child’s warm weather gear everyday. Even though there may not be any snow, it is still cold and sometimes muddy too. We go outside every day unless it is less than 10 degrees.

As your child may have told you, I was at a conference Thursday and Friday down in Grand Rapids. Mr. Wakefield and I attended MACUL. MACUL is a technology conference. I was very pleased with the sub reports I received. The children were respectful and the subs left very positive notes.
This week is our Literacy Event. We have reading spirit days all week. I can’t wait to share our Wednesday event with you! This years’ event is based on the movies. Can you name a book that later came out as a movie? Which was better?
See you Wednesday night from 5-7!

Today is the first day of Mrs. Vincent’s 1st Grade Blog for State Street Academy!
What an exciting day in First Grade! Not only did we receive anonymous funding for our new reading rugs but we had a visitor as well!
Next week we will take delivery of new reading rugs. We will be able to get comfortable during our reading block and relax with a good book.
Dr. Andrew Dwan came to visit as a part of our study of dental health. Dr Dwan is a dentist and taught us all about the job he does. It wraps up February’s Dental Health Month.
What a great day!!
