Notes

Board members unanimously approved two agenda items.

First, a conditional use request to allow an entertainment establishment. Jesse and Kathy Nguyen had their request approved for an entertainment establishment on the northeast corner of South Seneca Street and West Pawnee Avenue (1040 West Pawnee Avenue). Entertainment hours would be noon to 10 p.m. and all noise standards would apply. There will also be no amplified music or speakers outdoors.

Second, a rezoning request regarding Goodwill Industries. The location, found at 4720 S. Seneca Street is a Planned Unit Development. The request is on behalf of Goodwill Industries of America for warehousing. The current site is a vacant retail store. Dave Chadick, Chief Operating Officer of Goodwill, was in attendance and answered numerous questions about the site, emphasizing that it is not a retail center and exterior cameras would be utilized.

Wichita Police Department

Anthony Soto of the Wichita Police Department highlighted the 500% increase in auto thefts in the city. He said the department has a new team working in that area and they are doing an “amazing job.” He emphasized locking vehicles to prevent larceny and theft.
