Dear Parents and Carers
Here are our school notices for this week. There are quite a few notices today, please read all the way to the end!
Parent and Student Surveys
If parents have not yet received an email about the parent and student surveys, or have any trouble accessing them, please do not hesitate to call in and I can help with that. Also, once again I apologise for the initial survey not being anonymous to the truest sense of the word. I will leave the surveys open for the next 10 days to give everybody a chance to fill them out.
Thanks, Kat
Drop offs & pick ups
Please remember not to drive into the school car park for drop offs/pick ups as this causes a serious safety hazard. Many thanks.
GCSE Geography - Year 10
Deposit of £35 for the November 2019 residential fieldwork is due on the 14th February. Please pay via ParentPay.
Thank you, Simon
DofE Parents
The deadline for ordering a DofE hoodie has been extended to Tuesday 5th February at 4.15pm. I will then meet with those students who have ordered one to sort out their size/colour/personalisation etc... Payment is £23 via ParentPay. I will not be doing another order this academic year.
Many thanks, Simon
New: Songwriting Club
As some of you may know, Rose Kimberley is our school vocal tutor and on Tuesdays will now be offering a songwriting club after school. The club will be very practical and provide students with a fantastic creative outlet. Students will be exploring various approaches to songwriting including basic instrumentation, lyric writing, analysing songs and exploring genres. There may also be the opportunity for students to record their creation! As well as a vocal coach, Rose is a solo artist in her own right currently finishing an album for release in March and organising her first UK tour (more info www.rosekimberley.com).
Students do not need to have had previous musical experience to join.
First session commences: Tuesday February 26th at 4.30-5.30 in the Space
Grimm Tales
Next week's (11th Feb) rehearsal is Hansel and Gretel. Can I remind students (and parents) that rehearsals are meant to be running until 6.00 pm now (several students are leaving at 5.30).
GCSE Drama Theatre Trip
I have booked 20 tickets to see "You Stupid Darkness" at the Drum in the Theatre Royal next week - Wed 13th February. All GCSE Drama students should attend this as they have to write a review of live theatre in their Drama exam and watching powerful live theatre is an excellent way to develop and enhance their own drama skills. We are meeting at school at 6.00 and they should be collected from the station (the side closest to school) at approximately 10.30. There are currently 3 spare tickets for anyone in Yrs 10 or 11 not doing Drama who would like to go - first come first served. The students have letters and the trip is on ParentPay.
Many thanks, Jonathan
Basketball
Thank you to everyone who attended the Plymouth Raiders training session and game! It was a great event and you all improved throughout the session. Hopefully the Raiders will do better in their next few games... If you are interested in going to another Raiders game please express your interest to Simon.
Maths Equipment
Please make sure that students are bringing in full Maths equipment to lessons. Yr 9's in particular need their compass and protractors, and Yr 11's must have a scientific calculator. If you are unsure what type to buy, please email Eleanor for advice on eleanor@top-school.co.uk. We have been lending out equipment but it is becoming broken and lost so we can no longer provide these items.
Many thanks from everyone in the Maths department
