Newsletter 25th June 2021

Kia ora Musselburgh Whānau,

In this newsletter:

Home And School Association

The Home and School Association are meeting in the school staffroom on Monday 28th June at 7pm. All are welcome.

Year 5 and 6 Outdoor Education Programme

The year 5 and 6 students are enjoying our programme of ice skating lessons at Dunedin Ice Stadium.

This is a challenging, confidence building and fun programme - we always need adult help to supervise students walking down from school and at the ice - if you are able to help, please contact your child’s teacher or the office.

Reporting and Parent Interviews

A mid-term progress report will be available for your child at the end of term 2 and parent interviews are being held on Tuesday and Wednesday of week 2, term 3. Information will be sent out at the beginning of term 3 for you to organise an interview time.

Teacher Only Day

A teacher only day has been arranged for Wednesday 25th August. This is to enable Professional Development for our entire staff team. School will be closed for instruction on this day.

Policy Review

Each term we review some of our current policies and for some we would welcome feedback from the community. This term the policy on ‘Reporting to Parents’ is due for review - if you would like to look it over please go to our School Docs website and click the green button in the top right corner “search for your school” - then follow the instructions. To gain access the username is 'musselburgh' and our password is 'marlow'. Please then click on policy review and you can send feedback if you feel any changes may be needed. Information about policies and procedures is on our school website.

Winter Weather

As we get into colder weather there is the possibility of late starts or school closures. There are many factors involved in these decisions but the main concern is around safety of students and staff. In Dunedin the decisions to start late or close due to poor weather are usually made citywide and are announced on local radio - we will also put messages on Seesaw, the website and our Facebook site as soon as possible after a decision is made, in order to minimise disruption for whānau.
