INDIANA STATE USBC

Coronavirus Update - March 17, 2020 -  10:00 PM

Effective March 17, 2020 all of the Indiana State USBC tournaments, Youth (Terre Haute), Open (Richmond), Women’s (Lafayette), Seniors (Decatur) will be suspended through April 16, 2020.  At this time, we are hopeful that all of the above tournaments as well as the Indiana Pepsi Championship will resume/start on  April 17, 2020.  We remain very concerned with the health and safety of not only for our bowlers, but for all of our volunteers, centers and the communities of Indiana as well.  As you are well aware, this situation continues to rapidly change daily.  We will continue to monitor this situation, maintain communications with our centers and make decisions on how to proceed.  We plan on providing our next update on April 1, 2020.  Please contact your tournament managers with any questions you may have.  We will be in contact with team captains / squad leaders for all who were currently scheduled prior to April 17, 2020.  We strongly advise you to make sure to cancel your hotel reservations to avoid any financial obligations.  Should you feel uncomfortable and wish not to come to the event, we will happily work with you to reschedule or find another option (including refund) that works best for you.  Please note: the decision to bowl is entirely your choice..

Coronavirus Update - March 15, 2020 - 12:30 PM

Indiana State USBC Tournament Bowlers. We thank each and everyone of you for your understanding as we have been working through this challenging and serious coronavirus situation. We truly appreciate the large number of you who have talked to us and expressed your concerns and hopes to bowl. The IS USBC Board of Directors had an emergency meeting yesterday. They have reaffirmed the IS USBC's commitment to the safety of the people of Indiana and based on feedback received from our tournament bowlers wanting to bowl their desire to resume tournament operations when and if we are able to do so. . Immediately following yesterday's board meeting, the staff started working on developing options and plans going forward. We ask that you continue to be patient for a couple more days as we work to determine what the options are and prepare a complete communication for you. As you are well aware, this continues to be a rapidly changing situation and the plans we develop will of course be dependent on any future communications from governmental agencies. Our tournament managers will hopefully be better equipped to answer questions by sometime Tuesday as work with the bowling centers on options. As has been stated in our first announcement, whatever plans are put in place, anyone and everyone who is not comfortable participating this year will be able to request a refund. Again, for those of you contacting us directly and sharing your wishes to bowl, we are working on options for you as well. Thank you

Coronavirus Update - March 12, 2020 - 9:30 PM - Updated 11:17 PM

The Coronavirus outbreak continues to be a rapidly changing situation.  The Indiana State USBC’s top priority is the safety and health of everyone.  We have heard from many bowlers of which many want to come and bowl and some who have concerns.

Please note we will continue to provide updates of any changes asap on our Facebook page and on our website at www.indianastateusbc.org

Based on the limited time to this weekend March (14-15) for people to respond to changes, currently all of our events - Open Championship (Richmond), Youth Championship (Terre Haute) and Indiana Queens (Anderson) this weekend will be held as scheduled.  Ultimately, the decision to come must be made by you as the bowler.  Should you feel uncomfortable and wish not to come to the event, we will happily work with you to reschedule or find another option (including refund) that works best for you.  Please note: the decision to bowl is entirely your choice..  We will be postponing the next two weekends (March 21-22 & 28-29) and rescheduling*.  This will include the Women’s Championship.  Please check back to this page often for updates.  Tournament Manager contact information is provided below.  Any changes will be updated asap on the www.indianastateusbc.org and the Indiana State USBC Facebook page.

If you have any of the Coronavirus symptoms (Fever, Cough, Shortness of breath) *List is not inclusive (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/symptoms.html), we kindly request you contact our Tournament Managers to reschedule or find other acceptable solutions.  We ask that you are symptom free for a minimum of 14 days.

If you have traveled to or been in contact with someone who has traveled to a different continent or in a CDC Level 2 or Level 3 risk country for the Covid-19 (Currently Mainland China, Iran, South Korea, Italy or Japan) in the last 14 days, we kindly ask you do not bowl within 14 days of traveling or contact.  If required, please contact our Tournament Managers to reschedule or find other acceptable solutions.

According to the CDC, olderly and younger children are higher risk especially those with serious chronic medical conditions.  If you are within this group, we recommend you consider your options carefully and if necessary work with our Tournament Managers to reschedule or find other acceptable solutions.

We are working with all the hosting bowling centers to insure staffing is available and the centers are cleaned appropriately throughout the day and night.  We are striving to find hand sanitizer and make it available at each of our events at multiple locations.  This is proven to be difficult as supplies at stores are limited and at times non existent.  We strongly encourage everyone in attendance to practice and maintain proper Hygiene Basics:

All information as provided is as understood from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention only for awareness.  We encourage you to review and follow guidance available on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html as you deem necesary.

* Bowlers scheduled for March 21-22 & March 28-29 in the Open Championship, Youth Championship and Women's Championship will be contacted by our Tournament Manager to reschedule to another date.  Pending no other changes, all other weekends will not change.  If changes are needed for future weekends, we will communicate asap.
