On the 24th  of July there were matariki lights at night every year. We celebrate it because this is how NZ celebrates it. Matariki, also known as Māori New Year, is a time for celebration, growth and renewal. It's a chance to get together and remember whānau who have died, share food, tell stories, sing and play music. Matariki is the Māori name for the group of stars also known as Pleiades or the Seven Sisters. This is why we always celebrate the matariki stars cuz it reminds us of the people you miss who have passed away that is why we  always celebrate matariki too.You have to bring your whānau to the matariki to the lights it also has fireworks. and for some people who are scared to see the fireworks, here is a picture that you  will see to bring your family to the matariki lights and fireworks. You can see the picture now.
