Principles of Music and Worship

This course provides a broad overview of Christian worship and spiritual application including biblical fundamentals for ministry through music, various practical, administrative, and leadership dimensions, as well as clarification of role, self-identity, and call in the life of a minister.

Music Theory I

WORS 1302

The student gains a practical approach to the study of music fundamentals, including major and minor keys, scales, bass and treble staffs, rhythm and meter, intervals, triads and seventh chords in all inversions.

Private instruction in piano for 25 minutes per week. Three areas of focus; Music Theory, Church Music, and Sheet Music. The semester culminates in a jury evaluation by a panel of faculty members. Minor students are required to take three Applied Music Studies Courses.

Leadership in Worship

This course is designed to assist the student in developing an understanding of visionary leadership in the practice of Christian worship. The study includes the development of worship roles as leader, mentor, administrator, artist, and many more. Leadership principles encompassing administration, budgeting, planning, team building, people skills, and leadership development will be explored.

Music Technology I: Ableton Live

WORS 3304

        

Explores the unique traits of Ableton Live and its non-linear approach to music production. Coursework investigates many of the ways Ableton Live can be user configured for both studio music production and live performance.
