Dear Parents & Guardians,

As you may be aware, all students taking a high school math course are required to use a graphing calculator. The district has started updating our current TI-84 graphing calculators to the Texas Instruments TI-Nspire™ CX II CAS Color graphing calculator. We are excited to start using the calculators with all incoming Baker Geometry students starting in September 2021. The TI-Nspire™ CX II CAS graphing calculator provides enhanced features and is a hands-on learning tool that satisfies math and science curriculum needs from middle school through college.

Students will be required to have a graphing calculator to use at home. You may choose to purchase a calculator or utilize our loaner program available at school. If you borrow a calculator, students will be given a loan agreement form to fill out on the first day of school in September.

When purchased new, the graphing calculator comes with computer software which can also be downloaded on your computer. Students must have the TI-Nspire™ CX II CAS (must have the II CAS). This calculator is approved for use on Math Regents exams.  This calculator ONLY comes in blue. Do not purchase the TI-Nspire™ CX II calculator or the  TI-Nspire™ CX CAS. Please be aware that when purchasing a used calculator from eBay or other online vendors, it is possible the computer software or the charger may be missing from the package.  

Please note: students enrolled in math classes other than Algebra I, Geometry, Introduction to Statistics and AP Statistics will continue to use the TI-84 graphing calculators. Students enrolled in Intermediate Algebra will be provided with a graphing calculator.
