Grade Distribution set by the Math Department:

Tests 35%        Quizzes   30%            Homework/Classwork 10%        Activities/Projects 25%

Tests:

Tests will be administered during each marking period.  Benchmarks and interims will be used as test grades. Student’s are not permitted to make corrections on tests unless specifically stated in a student’s 504 or IEP.

Quizzes:

Quizzes will be given throughout the quarter.  If you are absent, you must make up the quiz within two class periods upon your return.  Students are encouraged to make corrections on quizzes.  All corrections must be completed with the teacher.  Corrections must be completed no later than one week after the quiz has been returned.

Homework:

Homework is assigned daily and will be graded.  Homework grades are based on effort, organization, comprehension and completion.   You must show work to receive credit.   I WILL ONLY GRADE ASSIGNMENTS COMPLETED IN PENCIL. I encourage you to work with your classmates on homework; collaboration is a great way to learn.  However, copying your classmate’s homework is not collaboration.  You must write up your own proofs/exercises and document anyone you worked with on any applicable assignment.

Projects/Activities:

Students will complete daily warm ups.  The warm up activities are designed to activate prior knowledge, review the previous lesson or guide the objective for that day.  The warm up activities will be completed at the start of each class.  Each month, the students will receive an activity grade based on these warm up activities.  Warm up activities cannot be made up.  You will not be penalized if you are absent from class or excused tardy.  However, if you are unexcused tardy, you will not be permitted to complete the warm up and your grade will be deducted.  Other projects may be assigned at the discretion of the instructor.

Class Absences:

You are responsible for obtaining all work/notes missed when absent from class.  Please refer to my website for the daily agenda and assigned homework.  Notes will not be posted online.  You will need to get in class notes from a classmate or see me as soon as possible.   I will not send in-class notes electronically.  If you are absent on the day of a quiz/test, you must make arrangements to make up the missing assignment. Please email me as soon as possible to make these arrangements. You have two class periods to make up any missing work.

Extra Help:

Please come see me if you need extra help.  I am available throughout the week after school if you are having difficulty with the material.  If you cannot come to posted office hours, please email me or talk to me after class.  I am here to help you succeed!  Do not wait until the end of the term to seek help!  Mathematics builds on previous material, thus seeking help early and often is encouraged.

Classroom Expectations:

RESPECT yourself, each other, me and your school.  All of the rules outlined in the Student Handbook are to be followed in the classroom.  Discipline will be handled in conjunction with school policy.

*Changes to office hours will be posted on my website as needed.
