Mon 1/1: The library will be closed in observance of New Year’s Day.  Happy New Year!

Wed. 1/3: 3:30 pm   Movie & Activity Watch a family friendly movie.  Do an activity following the movie.  Public and homeschooled children in grades 3-5 welcome to attend.

Thurs. 1/4:2 pm: Mahjong Play this ancient game of skill, luck and strategy.  All skill levels welcome!

Thurs. 1/4: 6 pm: Introduction to Computers  This program is part of a series of three computer classes especially designed for those who have very little experience using a computer, and want to gain better skills. Such concepts as using the mouse, finding icons and documents and getting onto the Internet will be covered.  Other concepts will be covered as participant needs in the class become apparent.  This class is one in a series of three Thursday evening classes being offered at the library thanks to a grant from Friends of the Macedon Public Library. Registration is required. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop if they have one. The library will have five available for use in this class.

Fri. 1/5: 3:30 pm  Happy Hour  Enjoy a Keurig beverage for only 50 cents.  Welcome the weekend and unwind at the library!

Sat. 1/6: 2-4 pm  Maker Day!  Enjoy a variety of maker stations set-up throughout the library. Build and create using library materials and tools.  No need to register, this is a drop-in program for families to participate in together.  

Mon. 1/8: 3:30 pm  Rocket Day! Hear two rocket-themed stories read aloud.  Make a rocket ship and launch it!  For future astronauts in grades pre-K through 2.  Registration required.

Tues. 1/9: 6:30 pm  Antarctica  Traveler John Domm will discuss his long anticipated, once in a lifetime trip to Antarctica.  He will describe the wonders and beauties of this far-off land.  In addition, he will share a short movie.  Registration required.

Wed. 1/10: 2 pm Iris Folding Join this group and make stunning cards for friends and family.  Bring pretty paper, cardstock, scissors, tape and glue. Current members of the group are always eager to teach beginners.

Thurs. 1/11: How to Search the Internet 6 pm  This is the second class in a three part series designed for adults who have little computer experience.  The instructor will go over Internet search skills.  Interested adults who may not have registered for the first class are allowed to join in this class.  Registration is required. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop if they have one. The library will have five available for use in this class.

Fri. 1/12: 5-10 pm: Teen Lock-In  Have fun in the library after-hours with other teens doing teen directed activities such as: playing games, bashing B-movies, making munchies or just talking about stuff.  Must have reliable transportation available at 10 pm.  

Sat. 1/13: 2 pm Puppy Tales  Children in grades K-5 are invited to read to a furry friend to develop confidence and fluency while reading aloud.  There is no registration required and several service dogs will be available.

Mon. 1/15: 1 pm Book Discussion 35 Dumb Things Well Intended People Say Join Fay Jefferson for this self-reflective book discussion perfect for the start of a new year and to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Tues. 1/16: 4 pm Learn How to Paint Using Your Own Laptop  Find out how to paint using your laptop and free digital software.  Try out one of the library’s Wacom tablets (a special tablet used for creating digital art).  Participants must have a laptop to participate.  Registration is required.  Class size is limited.

Thurs. 1/18: Noon  Friends of Macedon Public Library Book Discussion  Call the library for more details about the book to be discussed.

Thurs. 1/18: 1 pm Friends of Macedon Public Library Meeting  Join this group and help support the library by working on fundraising activities.  New members always welcome to attend.

Sat. 1/20: 3 pm Finger Lakes Bronze Handbell Choir Concert  Enjoy the beautiful tintinnabulation of this choir as they play a variety of tunes.  Back by popular demand.  This is a free concert thanks to funding from Friends of Macedon Public Library.  All are welcome to attend.

Sat. 1/20: 3 pm Needlework and Niceties Join this informal group in the cafe area of the library. Do your favorite needle craft in good company.

Sat. 1/20: 3 pm Kitty Tales   Children of all ages are invited to read to a fluffy kitty who enjoys hearing a good story read aloud.  

Mon. 1/22: 6:30 pm  Library Board Meeting  Members of the community always welcome to attend.

Tues. 1/23: 3:30 pm Fergus Puppet & Story  Hear Good Boy, Fergus by David Shannon read aloud.  Create your own Fergus puppet to bring home and enjoy.  Perfect for children in grades K-2. Registration required.

Sat. 1/27: 2 pm Meet Comic Book Creators Joe Janowicz and Nigel Carrington  This presentation is for anyone who is a comic book fan or who has considered becoming a comic book creator. Find out about both the writing and artistic process. Janowicz will detail how a concept is developed into a comic script.  Carrington will show participants how the pictures are drawn to coordinate with the script and create a comic book.  This program is for adults and teens age 13 and up.  Registration is required.

Sat. 1/27: 2 pm Learn How to Play Go   Members of Empty Sky Go Club will teach all interested community members how to play Go.  Go is an abstract strategy board game for two players, in which the aim is to surround more territory than one’s opponent. The players place stones on a board with a grid of lines.  It takes a few minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master!  Registration required.

Monday 1/29: Red Cross Blood Drive 1 pm  Give the gift of life.

Tuesday 1/30: 6 pm Spiral Pendant   Create a spiral pendant to wear using materials and tools provided by the library.  A materials fee of $2.50 will apply.  Space is limited.  Registration is required.
