January 7, 2019 (Whole Group All Day)

  1. LOVE Group has composed Pride Groups.  These Pride Groups are composed of Blue and Gold Cousin Groups.  More information to classified on Wednesday January 9, and certified staff on January 16th.
  2. LEARN Group is still trialing many online platforms (iStation, Freckle, Sumdog, Lexia) and focusing on a growth model.  
  3. LEAP Group is going to continue LES Experience Days in February and April.  With keeping Student Voice and Choice in mind, we will attempt to give some choices to 4th and 5th graders in April.  We are also looking into a LES Student Council.
  4. Overall, the LES Team is placing emphasis on communication and engagement.

December 3, 2018 (Whole Group All Day)

  1. Family Groups---LOVE group is working on getting this started.  More information coming.
  2. Continuing STEAM/Makerspace room--gathering supplies.  Also talked about 2nd Step.
  3. Possible Programs- Lexia, IStation, Freckle.  Check these out and see what you think.

November 5, 2018 (Whole Group All Day)

  1. Checked in on school-wide shirts, water bottles, makerspace, tower gardens.  We also talked about possible student council, internships, and other leadership opportunities at LES (mainly for 4-5).  The Team also spent some time plugging in the Habits of Success into the 8 Keys of Excellence.
  2. LOVE group reflected on our first LES Community Dinner.  We will have another family event (voluntary) in December, be looking for the date.  In addition, the LEAP Team reflected on the LES Experience Days, and are focusing on more student choice.
  3. The Team looked at and discussed ideas for implementing individual learning throughout LES.

October 1, 2018 (Whole Group All Day)

  1. Good News- LES made the top five for Innovative Workplaces in McPherson (McPherson Sentinel).  We are hoping to win it all!!!
  2. Discussed implementations thus far. Talked about upcoming events (Early Release, LES Community Meal {10/16, 6-7pm}, T-Shirts {all staff and students will be receiving a shirt}, Pride of LES, MakerSpace, new online office referral, lunch schedule).
  3. Structured Recess Trial for 4P and 5P (this will be during guidance time).  They will start this next week.

August 27, 2018 (Whole Group All Day)

  1. Reflection over summer meetings for each team (Love, Learn, Leap) and the beginning of 2018-2019, Meet and Greets, Back to School, lunch changes, Fun With A Fireman, Morale Committee.
  2. Ideas- water bottles, potlucks, makerspace, tower gardens, long term projects.
  3. Upcoming- LES Experience Day (9/5/18), LES Family Fun Night (9/6/18) Bingo, Food, Fun!!!

May 1, 2018 (Whole Group All Day)

  1. The group had not met for awhile, so each sub group shared out what was covered on April 3rd.  Every group is going to meet twice during the summer.  
  2. The team discussed the flow chart as a check and balance for pilots (data, documentation, and sustainability).
  3. Sub committees were made to focus on lunchroom and back to school for 2018-2019.  The Redesign Team will share with staff on May 9th.

April 3, 2018 - Research Groups. Met ½ Day Each!!!

LOVE GROUP-

  1. One class of first graders is piloting a water bottle system to help keep them hydrated and focused.
  2. We discussed our current school-wide behavior system (smileys/top hats) and if it is doing what it should.
  3. A list of additional wellness/health/sports clubs was created for students and staff. Hopefully some of those could start beginning of next year.
  4. We also brainstormed ways to continue to build relationships with our community.

LEARN GROUP- What we would like to try in the fall of 2018

  1. Passion Based Electives.  Work into school day 2-3 pm (once a quarter K-5 every staff either teach/help) menu---ex. Drums.
  2. Grade level long-term projects.  4 per year (presentation choices) use music and pe staff (could use field trips to drive topics or use S.S./Science).
  3. Individualized Learning--- Guided Reading and Guided Math

Small groups with music/pe teachers.

LEAP GROUP-

  1. Talked about procedures for implementing and piloting different student enriched activities at LES (procedures/protocol/checks and balances).
  2. Researched the impacts of screen time. We want to make sure we are using technology as a tool and not as the curriculum or instruction.  It’s simply a tool we use within our instruction, and a tool to enrich the instructional experiences for students.
  3. Should we have someone from each grade level to represent LES Redesign Team?  Perhaps community members also, or middle school, high school, etc.

March 14, 2018 (All Day)

  1. We decided to try some new lunch procedures after Spring Break.  We are excited to put these new procedures into place.  
  2. PTO also shared that they are working on a fundraiser to help make some changes to the playground.  
  3. The team also worked hard on getting the study groups ready to begin research in each of the areas for our school vision: Love, Learn, and Leap.  
  4. We will be meeting in the next month to look at these areas and what we want to use that fit our students needs.

February 6, 2018 (All Day)

  1. The Redesign Team spent a lot of the morning going through data collected from student, staff, and parent input.  The team picked out themes amongst the data to start the composition of the Vision.
  2. Much time was spent composing the vision and making sure input from all stakeholders was included.
  3. The website is still in the works, it looks great, and is almost ready to share with parents. Lincoln Lions are ready to … *Love*Learn*Leap
  4. Angie updated us on some visits that took place at the other schools (MMS/EES).
