Lettering Policy

To earn a Varsity Letter in Boys Track & Field:

You must finish the season in good standing.

Regardless of HOW you earned your letter,

if you do not finish in good standing you will not earn a letter.

These reasons will also disqualify you from earning a Varsity Letter:

Unexcused Absence from any Meet (that you are required to be at) = NO Varsity Letter!

3 Unexcused Absences over the course of the year = NO Varsity Letter

Automatic Letters:

• Break/Tie the School Record in any event
• Place in WVC Conference Meet (Top 6)
• Qualify for Sectionals
• Event Standard* in ANY Competition (auto timing for running events)

*ES = 3 yr. average of 8th place finish at WVC Outdoor Conference Meet (see below)

100m ~ 11.72        200m ~ 24.23

400m ~ 53.90        800m ~ 2:11.68

1600m ~ 4:50.48        3200m ~ 11:22.79

These are the average 8th place finishes in the last 3 years of the WVC Outdoor meet. We will use this as our standard for the automatic letter criteria within the event. Whether you are on Varsity or not, if you hit this standard in a meet, you will letter.

Provided you meet all other lettering criteria.
