8. Aerobics - hosted by Birla Vidya Niketan - Second and Third Prize 15. SPECIAL PRIZES - Swachh Bharat Mission 14.02.2021 Neymat Mehra won two prizes from Municipal Corporation Of Gurgaon (MCG) for the competitions held for the Swachh Bharat Mission . This was a big event with over hundred participants. The winners were felicitated in a special ceremony organized by MCG yesterday where the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the Commissioner of Gurgaon gave away the prizes. First Prize-Swachh Market This was a competition where the participants had to present their ideas on how the marketplaces can be kept cleaner . Third Prize-Movie This was a competition where the participants had to present a video and jingle for a cleaner and greener environment. 16. Aryabhatta Result – (2020-2021) - A team of 5 students from DPS Vasant Vihar participated and got merit certificates with an average of 73.2. |

5 | Sports | Exercise and play are two sides of the same coin for a young child. It is imperative to make fun and fitness dance in perfect harmony with each other, and create a jovial environment for the young minds.

6. | Special Assemblies Special days: | Online classes pose their own challenges. Assemblies, an integral part of boosting growth and confidence, were not allowed to take a backseat. The homeroom time was judiciously used to give students assembly like opportunities listed below:

SAFEGUARDING HEALTH
Talk about Coronavirus, videos , demonstration of covid protocol and display of posters as screen savers to drive awareness across this young age group.
A hands-on activity revolving around home remedies especially in the times of Corona were conducted. Valuable inputs about eating turmeric, steaming and making concoctions were shared.
Students were made aware of the mosquito menace of the monsoons and they were alerted about the do's and don'ts for prevention of vector borne diseases.

Other Events deserving Special Mention
A one month connection through the virtual platform during the summer vacation of 2020,where we took a break in transmission from the global negativity to give our students a ray of positivity and happiness. We helped our children slide and glide through those difficult hot, summer times with some cool hobbies! We wanted them to remain connected with their school and teachers.
Activities were conducted under the following heads: MATHEMAGICAL SUMMER, SCIENCE MUSKETEERS, ART LOUNGE, HEART AND SOUL STUDIO, KIDS JUNCTION, LANGUAGE LADDER, GARBAGE FOR U GOLD FOR ME, GREEN HEARTS, WANDER KIDS, KIDS KITCHEN JUNCTION.
Mr. Mukesh Kumar conducted a session on Thursday 30th April 2020 on cyber security to ensure that the seriousness of cyber crimes is brought forth. Valuable inputs were shared with the school staff and parents of Class V students. A UNICEF video for cyber safety was shared.
These workshops were conducted by teachers of DPS Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash to showcase the practices used in ONLINE classrooms to keep the students gainfully engaged. These were attended by teachers of DPS RK Puram as well.
Patriotic Fervour Begins Young
The 74th Independence Day of India was celebrated with immense patriotic zeal and enthusiasm by the students and staff via the virtual mode.
A special video commemorating the independence of our country was prepared by 150 students from classes Nursery to V - with the students exhibiting craft, dancing, singing and oratory skills.
A week filled with independence related activities was held, wherein all classes from Nursery to V conducted various competitions, tri-colour craft work and other activities such as Origami, making wristbands,patriotic T shirts, kites,preparing tricolour dishes, quizzes, powerpoint presentations, poem recitation, creating comic strips to celebrate seven decades of freedom. Children also showcased their singing and dancing talents.
Enactment of freedom struggle events was done by children of Nursery to Class V via little scenes,patriotic songs and dance to showcase the journey towards freedom. All this was compiled as a presentation ‘Mahatma Revealed’. Some activities were - गांधीजी के तीन बंदर – Circle Time, Gandhiji ke jeevan se judi kucch kahaniyan sunein aur dekhein, Gandhiji ka Chautha Bandar, Drawing and Story Narration related to Mahatma Gandhi's life,
All students took the ’Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge’ with their teachers to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation.Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s presentation that made them aware of why we celebrate his birthday as a National Unity Day and the role he played in uniting the princely states into one India. The students were taken on a virtual tour of the Statue of Unity via Google Earth.
As part of the initiative by the government of India, Sikkim was allocated as the sister state of Delhi.Every month for the full year activities related to Sikkim were held in Classes I to V. This helped to build awareness about the state’s language, cuisine, culture, sports, habitat, dance, art forms, costume etc.
Class 1 - Dressing up in Sikkimese attire, learning Sikkimese dance steps and mask making. Draco the Dragon- a shapely Math affair, food art in General Awareness, story telling ‘The Reluctant Dragon’ in the Language classes, enhanced verbal proficiency, fostered their imagination and creativity.

Students got the opportunity to meet frontline doctors, ‘Vande Bharat’ pilots and people who successfully recovered from Covid 19 to understand the work and sacrifices in working amidst the covid scenario.

Literary Enhancement

In order to provide a platform to students to creatively express their ideas/ views on the theme THINKING INNOVATIVELY IN UNPRECEDENTED TIMES LIKE COVID-19, CBSE conducted the Expression Series from 15th June to 15th July 2020. The activities conducted were Paragraph writing/ Painting on the topics; For me, Lockdown means…. or The best thing I learned during lockdown!
Young authors not only created but gave their own voice overs in creating ebooks thereby expanding their horizons to keep reading and writing and getting to know the technical know-how.
Art Integrated Learning
The medium of theatre, art, craft, experiments, songs, dances, quizzes, puzzles, games, debates, panel discussions, projects, were an integral element of learning by doing. All subjects were taught through some interesting activity. Sikkim was also made familiar through many Art Integrated activities – exhibition of Sikkimese artefacts, mask making, Thangka art, Sikkimese music and traditional dances, dressing up in traditional costumes and preparing traditional cuisines at home.
Toy Fair Event- Cool Curated Toys
Students indulged joyfully in making their own toys out of socks and other items available at home creating their own Toy Story. This helped to nurture creativity and imagination, and developed fine motor skills. Caring and sharing gives one comfort and strength.They showcased their favourite toy and spoke about it.
