It’s Mascot Monday.  Did you realize that the North American beaver is the largest rodent in the northern hemisphere and second largest in the world behind the South American capybara?  It’s actually not uncommon to find an adult beaver weighing between 55 and 100 lbs.  Side fact:  The average Hawk can only carry about 10 pounds.  So, HVA better think twice before assuming we will be easy prey this Friday.

Welcome Class of 2027 Students and Guardians!

My name is Ryan Milani, and I serve as the 9th-grade assistant principal at Karns High School. I look forward to working with the class of 2027.

This will be my third year at Karns High and my third year working with freshmen.  I am excited to get this year started as we enter our second year of the #865Academies structure.  We have assembled what I believe to be the best group of educators I have worked with.

Thank you for sharing your student with us this year.  We are so excited to get things going!

Below are a couple of topics that should be of interest to you at this time. If you have any questions, the best way to reach me is by email: Ryan.Milani@knoxschools.org

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION - Friday, August 4th

This Friday, August 4th, Karns High will be hosting the class of 2027 for Freshman Orientation.  Busses will run to and from.  If you are not sure of the bus number or pick-up/drop-off times, please use the district’s BUS STOP LOCATOR.  Our day will begin at 8:30 and conclude at noon.

The focus of the day is an introduction to Karns High in our auditorium, and then students will walk their schedule and meet their teachers.  The idea is to help new students to Karns High get acclimated and feel more comfortable for the first day of school.  It may seem small, but it makes a big difference to us.

Breakfast will be provided, but lunch will not.

We hope to see your rising 9th grader on Friday!!
