Starting Tuesday morning, May 14th, the Cicero Elementary Runners Club will begin. The Club, which is in its 25th year of existence, is open to all children in grades 1 - 4.  First and second graders will run on Tuesday mornings, and third and fourth graders will run on Thursday mornings.  On both days the Club begins at 8:15am, and will end at 9:00am.  Students will be dismissed to their classrooms from the gym.

What do we do in the Runners Club??  Well…we RUN!!  As you all know, we have a very nice jogging track behind the school. The day always begins with a series of stretches inside the gym, and, when all children are ready for action, we go out and run the track.  Jump ropes are also available on the basketball courts for those individuals who have completed the allotted distance for that day. We make every effort to run outside, even when it is quite cold, so children must come prepared for the weather.  We cannot stay inside the gym with children who are improperly dressed, so PLEASE make sure that kids will be warm enough.  Heavy rain (we run in drizzle) usually results in all children coming into the gym for organized jogging sessions.

The Runners Club day starts at 8:15am.  Parents may not drop their children off early and let them hang around the school-either inside or out.  Doors will open at 8:10. Please escort your child into school. Children cannot walk from the parking lot into the school unattended.

If you are interested in helping us with supervision, that would be great!!  Send a note in with your child's permission slip, and we will see you on the first day.  Upon entering the school students are to go directly to the gym.  NO CHILD IS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE WITHOUT A SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP, and students can hand slips in at any time before May 14th.  Dates for Runners Club are from May 14th through June 13th.

Mr. Cupoli & Mr. Bailey reserve the right to excuse anyone from Runners Club due to poor behavior.

I give my son/daughter permission to participate in the Cicero El. Runners Club.  I understand that my son/daughter needs to be brought to school between 8:10am and 8:15am.  Doors will not open until 8:10AM. Early drop-offs are NOT ALLOWED.  1st and 2nd graders will run on Tuesdays and 3rd and 4th graders will run on Thursdays.
