The 10 Tips for Teaching series:

The 10 Tips for Teaching is a series of short online courses taught by teacher and teacher trainer Higor Cavalcante for teachers who are seeking career development but don't have a lot of time (or money) to invest.

All the courses in the series are 3-hour long and are very practical in nature. After a brief 30-minute theoretical introduction, 10 tips for teaching (or developing) the area in question will be discussed and exemplified. It's as simple as that!

What does teaching reading comprehension entail?

This short course starts with 30 minutes of theory, and then goes on to discuss 10 different activities/aspects of teaching reading comprehension, such as intensive vs extensive reading, devising reading tasks, implementing book clubs (extensive reading programs) in your courses, and much more.

Course tutor:

The course is taught by Higor Cavalcante, teacher and teacher trainer based in São Paulo/SP. Higor has been in ELT for going on 20 years and has vast experience in preparation for exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, FCE, and especially CAE and CPE for teachers. He studied Languages at USP  and holds, among others, CPE (grade A), CELTA, DELTA modules 1 and 2, and he's currently working on his DELTA module 3 on language development for teachers. His main interests in ELT involve extensive reading, phonology and language development for teachers, and he travels extensively to speak at teaching conferences on these and other topics. Higor is the first vice president of BRAZ-TESOL (he will be president as of 2019). He's the author of Inglês para professor, published in 2015 by Disal Editora. His new book, Inglês para professor 2, will be published in 2019, also by Disal Editora. Higor is a CELTA tutor.
