The Freedom Haven project @ PorcFest2023

The Freedom Haven project had another successful run at PorcFest (and the preceding smaller ForcFest) this year that was even better than last year (our first year). We were better organized, in a superior location at the campsite, had better supporting canopies and equipment, scheduled 4 times the number of presentations over the previous year and were more experienced from the previous year. This resulted in 3 times the number of contributors producing 4 times the total contributions (compared to the previous year), and an interview on Free Talk Live.

Some lessons learned while at PorcFest 2023:

• People at PorcFest are more engaged in a fundraiser where they can help with the work for this cause than with a flat requesting-donations approach - although this might be different for other venues.
• We keep finding people who are ready to start investing (with Phase 3) into this project, but we don’t have the escrow account set up for this yet (so we can’t accept their investments yet) - setting this up and preparing for investors will be a high priority in the coming months. Tony Olsen scouted out FreedomFest 2023 to see what options it has for marketing there, and came away with some additional interviews. More will be posted on this later.

From Trey Goff: (paraphrased) “Do all of a country's laws apply to a vessel flying that country’s flag that never enters that country’s territory?”

On paper, a country can pass whatever laws it wishes for the ships that fly its flags, but in practice, unless a law is specifically passed to apply to ships at sea, then the laws generally aren’t enforced.

We would be interested in flying a “flag of convenience” from an “open registry” which, through marketplace competition between countries, boasts low costs and high freedoms, and for such countries, optimizations for low operational costs (and higher profits) result that the only laws that are generally enforced outside their territory are the International Maritime Laws that that country has signed, which other countries usually enforce when your ship visits their ports. Those International Maritime Laws affect the ship and its crew - but not the passengers. This means that we can still offer the highest levels of socioeconomic freedom available anywhere on the planet.

The only exception we’ve found to this is the USA “Maritime Drug Law Enforcement Act” which has sometimes been used to enforce USA drug laws on foreign vessels outside USA’s territory. But on January 20th, 2022, the first circuit court of appeals ruled that this law was unconstitutional. That being said, one of the advantages of our chosen location in the South Bay of Bengal is that it’s far away from this theater.

Monthly Freedom Haven constitution section mini-overview

The Preamble of Freedom Haven Constitution:
We the individual People, in order to secure the human right to defend ourselves, to limit the scope of Government, and to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, so that we can have the chance to learn, grow, and work towards achieving our greatest individual divine potentials (so that through our efforts, and without compulsory means, prosperity may flow unto us forever and ever), do ordain and establish this Constitution for the Provinces that form the Country of Freedom Haven.

GOVERNMENT

• GOVERNMENT is any person, or group of persons, using Force, regardless of whether the use was justified or not. To the people of Freedom Haven, Government and Force are synonymous. Anyone using Force is Government, and Government only exists when Force (or the threat of Force) is present.
