Remind Text Service Ending

Good afternoon KMS Families,

Remind.com has changed its terms of service for large groups using this tool. KMS will no longer be able to send out messages to our entire school community or even entire grade levels at one time.Teachers will still be able to use the service for their individual classes or for teams such as Longitudes or Skimmers.

The last day we will be able to communicate with you via Remind is on July 23rd.

For whole school communication, we are going to use the district provided School Messenger service which has the capability to send texts, phone calls and emails. At KMS, we don’t typically send any phone calls. We do use it for email. Starting this year, we will use it to send text messages as well.

How to Sign Up for School Messenger

  VERY IMPORTANT:

Be sure your email and cell phone numbers are correct in Infinite Campus. You can update one phone number in Parent Portal.  You’ll be able to verify and/or correct all your contact information in person during Meet the Teacher Day on 7/31 between 10am-3pm.

EMAILS: If you are already receiving emails from the district regarding things like inclement weather, district-wide announcements, etc, then you don’t need to do anything else.

If you are not receiving emails, please send an email with subject line “Update School Messenger Email” to judith_m_carslon@dekalbschoolsga.org. Let Mrs. Carlson know what email(s) you would like in the system for School Messenger. It may take up to 3 business days for your email to get corrected. Please note that Mrs. Carlson returns to work on 7/22.

TEXTS: If you are already receiving text messages from the district regarding things like inclement weather, district-wide announcements, etc, then you don’t need to do anything else.

If you are not receiving texts, one of two errors may exist:

  1. You may have unsubscribed at some point in the past year. If you recall doing this, you can send the text HELP to 67587. The reply you receive should include directions on how to resubscribe.
  2. Your cell phone number may be incorrect or missing from School Messenger. Please send an email with subject line “Update School Messenger Cell Phone” to judith_m_carslon@dekalbschoolsga.org. Let Mrs. Carlson know what cell phone number(s) you would like in the system for School Messenger. It may take up to 3 business days for your cell phone number(s) to get corrected. Please note that Mrs. Carlson returns to work on 7/22.

Between 7/15 and 7/23, Dr. Neely is going to send three test emails and texts so that you can determine if you are getting both forms of communication.

We always appreciate it when parents share group emails/texts on the grade level Facebook pages. This is so helpful when people are trying to determine if they are missing school communications. Thank you.
