Bees Ecosystem and Sustainability

What are bee’s?

Bees are a type of insect that help pollinate flowers. They make food, flowers, and gardens. Bees are like wasps but are better for the environment. There are three types of bees: drones, queen, and worker bees. The scientific name of a bee is anthophila.

Second Slide -Kaleb:

What are the body parts?

To a bee they have three main body parts: head, thorax and abdomen. They have an antenna attached to their head. The head is the most important part of their body.

Third Slide - Mercy:

What is the Life Cycle of a Honey Bee?

A life cycle is something that happens again and again. The life cycle starts with an egg, larvae, pupa and an adult bee. The queen bee lays 2000 - 3000 eggs per day.  The fertilised eggs which will become female honey bees.  After 3 days, the egg develops into a larva, which looks like a small white grub. Inside the sealed egg cell, the larva begins to spin into a cocoon around itself. This is the last stage of the bee.  An adult bee lives for 1–2 years and the workers live for 15–38 days.

Fourth Slide - Genesis

What is the Bee’s Ecosystem?

Bees' job in their ecosystem is to pollinate flowers and help more flowers grow, and to make hives to make food like honey and other types of food similar. Bees create food such as honey, blueberries, almonds, beans and tomatoes. Many bees pollinate and collect pollen to store for the cold months.

Fifth Slide - Kaleb

What are the bees' jobs in their Ecosystem?

Bees pollinate our plants and help make food.  Without bees we wouldn’t have food on our plates or in the garden. Bee’s are just more than animals in the ecosystem. But the bees are dying due to pesticide, diseases,  and parasites are killing the bees.

Sixth Slide - Easton

What do Bees Create?

Bees create food such as honey, blueberries, almonds, beans and tomatoes. Many bees pollinate and collect pollen to store for the cold months, so they can survive. Honey bees collect nectar and pollen to make their sweet survival food.

Seventh Slide - Kaleb

Why are bees in decline?

Bees pollinate our plants and help make food. but the bees are dying due to pesticide, diseases, colony collapse, and parasites are killing the bees.

Eighth Slide - Mercy

What causes Bee Decline?

Bee decline is caused by habitat loss, colony collapse disorder, less forage and shelter for bees. Bees are also in decline because of eating neonic food and that can be deadly to bees. Bees are declining because our land has developed significant loss to pollinators and friendly habitas.

Ninth Slide - Genesis

Why is it Unsustainable for Bee’s?

Humans put bees in boxes when they travel which is unsustainable because it spreads the disease CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder).
