Tēna koutou Te Kakano whānau,
Welcome to Term Four in Te Kākano. Here are a few housekeeping notes for the term:
We have changed our library day. Our new library day is Thursday. Please try to bring your library bag back to school by Thursday so new books can be issued.
Change of Clothes
This week we have been fortunate to have our water play out. The children have been creating volcanoes in the sandpit and making potions. This type of learning can be very messy and wet, so it would be helpful if your child always has an extra change of named clothes in a plastic bag, in their school bag.
We are hoping that this great summer weather continues. With that in mind it is important that your child has a sunhat each day (ideally a hat that can stay at school).
Please sunscreen your child before they come to school. We will have additional sunscreen in the classroom that they can use to reapply at lunchtime.
We are currently on the lookout for outdoor loose parts or small natural objects that the children can play with. If you have anything that you think would support our play, please contact us. Also if anyone has small bits of softwood that the children can easily hammer into we would love to add it to our construction table.
If anyone is available to help out in the classroom, please come and see us. This may involve putting away books, working with small groups, cooking, painting blocks and/or helping with the play. If you have an area of expertise that you would like to share we would love to hear from you.
You would have received a newsletter asking for helpers during our carnival. This is a very important event for Frankey School and we rely on volunteers to help it be successful. If you could find some time to help out it would be much appreciated. There is a sheet on the Parent Info wall in the Rito Room. Please ask one of the teachers if you are unsure.
Next week we have the Life Education truck coming to Frankley School. On Wednesday and Friday Te Kakano will be visiting the truck. The lessons will be focused on how to deal with conflict and showing empathy to others. This supports the children in their play when they are confronted with a challenging situation and how they may deal with it independently.
