Boys Don’t Cry by Malorie Blackman
Another author famous for her take on dystopian worlds is Malorie Blackman. This, however, is a very different book, very much set in modern day Britain and focusing on some very real problems.
Dante is 17 years old and waiting for his A level results, ready to find out whether he’ll be heading off to university as planned. When the doorbell rings it’s not the postman with his results but an old girlfriend who quite literally leaves him holding the baby that, up until that moment, he knew nothing about.
Dante’s future is about to change out of all recognition as he navigates fatherhood and relationships with a baby in tow.
