Progress Reports and Interviews

On Thursday, November 1st, you received your child’s Progress Report. The elementary progress report card is designed to show a student’s development of the learning skills and work habits during September and October, as well as a student’s general progress in working towards the achievement of the curriculum expectations in all subjects.
The First term report cards will be distributed in February.
It is important to note that “Progressing Well” on the Progress Report does not necessarily mean a student’s performance is a level 3 or 4. If there is evidence that the student is moving towards the standard, then the student is “Progressing Well”.
Parent/teacher interviews for Grade 1 to Grade 6 students are scheduled for
Thursday, November 8th, between 4:00pm and 7:50pm. This will be an opportunity to get more detailed information about your child’s progress so far this school year.
The Kindergarten team will be sending home their initial observations on
Thursday, November 8th and then setting up interviews for the following week (Wednesday, November 14th). More information will be sent from the Kindergarten educators this week.
This year we will be using an online Google booking system for our interviews. Parents will be able to sign up for 10-minute, Grade 1-6 interviews
with the teacher of your choice by clicking here. Click on the link for your child’s teacher, fill out the form and submit. Confirmation of interview times will be sent through the email that you provide on the interview form.
Should you prefer a phone interview, please call your child’s teacher to set up a preferred time. Cancellations can be made by emailing the school at

Supporting the Brown Family

As we continue to keep the Brown family in our prayers, the information from Tubman Funeral Homes, regarding the celebration of life for Warren Brown can be found here:

Our Grade 6 student leaders have organized Spirit week activities to do some fundraising and help support the Brown family.

Tuesday, November 6th - Crazy Hair day

Wednesday, November 7th - PJ Day

Thursday, November 8th -  Jersey/Logo Day

Friday, November 9th - Red and Black Day

There is no fee to participate in the spirit days, but families can make donations (money or gift cards) at the school interviews on the night of Thursday, November 8th. If parents are not able to attend the interviews, but would like to make a donation, they can have their child bring the donation to the office any day next week. Mr. Skinner will accept any donations at the interview night and during the school day throughout the week.

Senators Ticket Raffle

In another initiative to support the Brown family, starting on Tuesday, November 6th, the Grade 6 students will be selling raffle tickets for the chance to win two tickets to see the Ottawa Senators play the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, November 17th. The seats are located in the Senators Alumni Suite on the 400 Level. One raffle ticket will be sold for $2.00 and three raffle tickets will cost $5.00.

The winner of the tickets will be announced on Friday, November 9th.
All proceeds from the Sens ticket raffle and the donations received will be used to help support the Brown family. Thanks to everyone in our school community for their kindness and support.

Remembrance Day Liturgy

On Friday, November 9th, we will be celebrating our Remembrance Day liturgy in the gym at 11:00am. All members of our school community are invited to attend, especially any veterans and those working in uniformed occupations. Poppies will be sold on behalf of the Legion on Friday morning. Primary students who make a donation will receive a sticker, while Junior students who make a donation will receive a poppy that they can pin on their shirts or jackets.

Notes from Corkery School Council

Thanks to all of the parents who have signed up to help with the food programs. A reminder that a completed Vulnerable Sector Check needs to be brought to the school for all volunteers.

Also, we would like everyone to save the date of Thursday, December 13th for this year’s Christmas in Corkery event . We will need volunteers and we will be posting the volunteer schedule sign up in early November.

Finally, our next Council meeting will be on Tuesday, November 13th. We hope to see many parents in the Learning Commons at 6:30pm.

If you have any questions please contact your 2018-2019 School council at

Photo Retakes

Photo retakes will be taken on Monday, November 12th. If any families have decided not to order the original photos and would like to have new photos taken for their child, if possible please have the student return the photo package to the school on Monday, before they have new photos taken that day. Any student who missed the original photo day will also be able to have their photo taken as well.
